The elites and institutions have folded but regular people haven’t
I know people keep saying this but it’s hard to communicate the depth of active resistance here. Like, I’m on random cafes and people are checking in for observation shifts. Signs everywhere. Folks in visibility vests on the corners. It’s wild. Absolutely wild.

They are defunding and abolishing everything from cancer research to invasive species elimination in the Great Lakes to this. And they’re doing it with hardly a whimper of protest from the same Ds that are boo hooing about we can’t defund ICE, let’s trying making them wear cameras instead.

Democratic Party consultant class solidarity is part of the problem.

This response from the vice chair of the DNC to the rage of constituents who are being targeted by domestic state terrorism is inappropriate and another example of party leaders failing to read the room and rise to the moment.
I work with state parties every single day. There are only a handful of national leaders who actually raise real money for the year organizing state parties do--Ken Martin (dnc chair), Simon Rosenberg (Hopium), Sen. Warren and Actblue. Come for Simon and you come for all of us.
I'm not interested in arguing with the good people of Minnesota, on the front lines, doing the hard work of protecting our democracy. I've worked hard to bring your bravery and courage to the world in recent weeks on Hopium.

But attacks like this are false, defamatory, and need to end. 1/

Is Gov Huchul suddenly... based?
New York State is doing a lot of very cool stuff using ARPA money to fund affordable open access fiber broadband to rural areas. One town (Dryden) is giving locals 400 Mbps fiber for $45 a month.

but the droll mechanics of reality don't get clicks, so the press generally doesn't give a shit

I was expecting more Good Trouble and less Centrism when I voted and phone banked for Warnock, tbh. I thought he was the more exciting candidate than Ossoff, but now it's flipped for me.
So now Dem senators are just espousing MAGA talking points about ICE?

ICE is less than 25 years old. They’re winding down the Department of Education and all but abolishing USAID. An administration can shut it down. Not reform, or replace. Abolish.

A 1985 Supreme Court ruling says that police can't open fire on someone who is fleeing unless they pose a serious danger to the officer or others. But that was authored by activist judges appointed by woke presidents like Nixon and Reagan.

They won't even use the term transgender regarding their coverage in this statement, they use the term gender identity.

I think the Times might be making a shift towards an editorial stance that pathologizes trans people.

We expect robust legal challenges to these hate-filled proposals and are actively engaged with organizations on the frontlines of this fight.

Muting a Black woman to claim the vote was unanimous is so incredibly on the nose
The White House claims the vote to rename the Kennedy Center was “unanimous.” That is false. I was muted on the call and denied the opportunity to speak or register my opposition. That is not consensus. That is censorship.

ProPublica identified 17 people who each shielded at least $1 billion in capital gains from the so-called Net Investment Income Tax.

Together, this small group, by collectively exempting more than $35 billion, saved about $1.3 billion in taxes.

How Billionaires Sidestepped a Tax Aimed at the Rich
Wall Street financiers were a clear target of the tax, but some, on questionable legal grounds, have claimed their outsized profits were exempt, sometimes avoiding hundreds of millions in taxes.
