These articles have a place if they’re “wow was I wrong, here’s the ways I was wrong and the failure modes I engaged in, and I’m sorry”. They don’t work if they are “everyone was hysterical for now reason, but now I deem it fascism, it’s time to get worried, you’re welcome”.
until recently, i was a dumbass. but no longer.

4: “Vectoring assets! OPSEC hygiene!” Literally no COIN SME talks like this. I taught this shit to field agents and I never once used goofy phrases like this. But ChatGPT absolutely does.

To combat bird flu spread, other countries have authorized poultry vaccines. The U.S. hasn’t, amid political and economic pushback.

Without a vaccine, experts say the virus poses an escalating threat: “The minute it transmits to humans, it’s done.”

What the U.S. Government Is Dismissing That Could Seed a Bird Flu Pandemic
Egg producers suspect bird flu is traveling through the air. After a disastrous Midwestern outbreak early this year, we tested that theory and found that where the wind blew, the virus followed. Vacci...

Won't anyone think of us entryists?! We bangwagon hoppers?! Us, the fairweather fans of social movements who have finally done the mental calculus and realised our current course doesn't benefit us personally in the long term?! Why are you being so mean?!

It's just "liberals are goodies", "I am obviously a good person ergo I must be a liberal".

But as they express what are actually horribly conservative views, they get pushback, and that cognitive dissonance breaks their brains.

Terfs are an interesting sub-type of fascist, in that they are the sub-type most keen to think of themselves as liberals because they have adopted the worldview that "liberal = good" with no further detail beyond that.

Not "liberal = good because democracy" or "because human rights"...

A thought, looking forward, at the strategy of the anti-Trump coalition, given the pattern we've seen, DHS will begin probably soon, drawing down forces in Minneapolis and going to harass some other place.

It'll be useful to frame this as 'ICE defeated' and a 'retreat' - they are 'fleeing.'

there been a bunch of fascism articles recently whose argument goes:

1. the annoying alarmist dipshits said a bunch of stupid stuff

2. yet somehow, what they predicted ended up happening

3. waffle around vaguely for a bit, without ever reconciling 1 & 2

They never worried about what a truly dire fuckup killing an Alex Pretti would be because it never occurred to them that an Alex Pretti could ever exist

So now they have no idea what the fuck to do. Because they don’t even fully understand what’s just happened

Fascists don’t comprehend the simple mundane courageous altruism of ordinary everyday people, because in order for them to believe the things fascism requires they believe, that kind of altruism cannot exist. If it appears, it’s only a cynical lie

I feel like if I had been consistently wrong about something for a decade and called the people who were right about it hysterical idiots then in my article admitting these people were right I wouldn't say "but obviously they were still hysterical idiots"

I find the willful refusal to see that “selling out” has nothing to do with popularity or money and everything to do with changing who you are to get those things is one of the most alienating things to me about many younger people. Not selling out is a good thing. The ones my age who suck? SOLD OUT

Get away from US software companies, get away from US cloud providers. Support local or ally software businesses only. Go back to on-premises. Know where your data is going.

We’ve slept walk into this, we just need to wake up now. Alternatives have always existed. Use them.
France announced today it’s phasing out Teams, Zoom, etc. to be replaced with a French/European solution called Visio. The data is hosted on Outscale. Transcripts and subtitles are also handled by French providers. The target is set on 2027 for government agencies.

No, they had every opportunity to know what was going on. If they weren’t intentionally voting for this, they were exhibiting criminal negligence.
Seriously, folks, people did NOT vote for murder on the streets. A majority of those who voted went for Trump, and to win power, those against Trump will have to win many of them over, not reject them all as people who want fascism.

I need people who were wrong about everything to actually look back and recognize that there was a reason they were wrong and maybe they need to update their understanding of the world.

Otherwise they don't really think they were wrong.
