The very well-accepted term for "stripping the legal protections of a minority group and then sending a paramilitary force to carry them away" is "ethnic cleansing."

They are planning to ethnically cleanse Springfield, Ohio.
Breaking MS NOW:

The Trump admin is now eyeing Ohio for immigration enforcement operations that could begin as early as next week.

The operation is expected to target Haitian immigrants — with temporary protected status for Haiti expiring on Feb. 3.
ICE eyeing Ohio next, where it is expected to target Haitian immigrants
An estimated 12,000 to 15,000 Haitians live in Springfield, Ohio, a community that President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance targeted during the 2024 campaign, falsely accusing the community ...

Finally got around to the Silent Night, Deadly Night reboot, which basically uses the visual language of the original to deliver the single best Punisher movie anyone's pulled off to date.

I wasn't expecting to enjoy this nearly this much. #filmsky

So... am I missing something, or is the funding "compromise" potentially REALLY GOOD?

The kindest, most selfless thing Amazon has ever done for mainstream reviewers.

No one should have to see this, and now no one ever will.

Not even the press.

Holy shit.

Episode 4 is one of the better MCU *movies*.
Watched the first two episodes of Wonder Man, and I'm loving it.

Do the recons to Slattery's past work with what we saw in Iron Man 3? Hell, no. Does this matter in the slightest? Nope!

Great show so far!

Looking forward to seeing how they defend this absolutely fucking insane level of corruption.
President Trump has filed a lawsuit against the IRS, in which he demands that the IRS, which he as president controls, pay him $10 billion.

If you haven't watched the clip, you might not realize he also insults homeowners, in addition to insulting anyone trying to buy a home. Perhaps the most tone deaf, patronizing 40 seconds ever captured on video.
Trump: "People that own their homes -- we're gonna keep them wealthy. We're gonna keep those prices up. We're not gonna destroy the value of their homes so that somebody who didn't work very hard can buy a home."

What I find interesting about this project - at least from a conceptual standpoint - is that I'd rather eat a bucket of pine needles than watch the trailer, let alone subject myself to a whole episode.
First trailer for Darren Aranofsky's new AI animated series 'On This Day... 1776'

• Tells short narrative stories about the Revolutionary War

• Uses Gen AI tools, including tech made by Google DeepMind

• Has SAG voice actors

Five ‘70s flicks that you love and return to time and again, but not the really obvious ones because there are some REALLY obvious answers and I don't want this to be too easy.

As a reminder, that "trillion dollar bonus" is contingent on the company hitting some really difficult goals over the space of several years, and things are off to a GREAT start.
New: Tesla 4th quarter profit plunges 61% year-over-year; annual profit down 46%

the brand damage:
-1 million lost vehicle sales, per study
-Declining revenue, profits, deliveries in 1st half of '25
-Lower total production/deliveries than '24
-Lost crown as world's leading EV seller

Tesla bet big on Elon Musk. His politics continue to haunt it.

I watched M3GAN 2.0. Let's get this out of the way: the speech at the end that sort of tried to "both sides" AI... yeah, that sucked. Bad decision. Read the damn room.

The rest basically felt like someone stuck Terminator 2 and Spy Kids in a blender.

Which, right or wrong, I enjoyed. #filmsky

After being blown away by Karel Zeman's other two movies on Criterion, I put on JOURNEY TO THE BEGINNING OF TIME. The effects work is incredible for the time, but anyone watching should be warned it's more 1950's edutainment than it is an adventure flick.

I put on INVENTION FOR DESTRUCTION, watched Karel Zeman more or less invent steampunk in real time, and that's maybe the third or fourth most impressive thing about the movie. #filmsky

I'd reset the "days since we had an international incident" counter back to zero, except it's been at zero every day for the past year.
Uh. So ICE just technically tried to invade Ecuador. Cool new international incident dropping.

With the caveat I'm not an expert or even all that well informed:

It seems like the "retreat" could be a ploy to push the funding bill through by feigning a compromise. Probably worth calling all our senators again and reminding them to vote against funding these assholes.

I just watched the 1962 Czech film, "The Fabulous Baron Munchausen," on Criterion, and... guys. This thing is incredible. Imagine a movie imported from a world which kept using Méliès' techniques and style for five decades longer. It's weird, funny, and smart. I loved it.
