This is so good - @vermontgmg.bsky.social takes a stab at imagining how the US press would be covering overseas what's happening inside the U.S. right now:

The Trump administration is scrubbing the CDC’s website of documents on reproductive rights issues, sexual health, intimate partner violence, and more.

I'm trying to save them.

You can find the deleted docs at cdcguidelines.com - I'll be adding more over the weekend.

It is v interesting that altho most of the legal convo on this site yesterday about the OMB freeze of federal funding focused on impoundment issues, the complaint that led to the administrative stay of the freeze last night instead made a 1A argument. 🧵

This shows an astounding lack of understanding of what government is.

The phrase continuity of government, for example, exists because the whole point is that government is not a company. It doesn't stop. It is the compact we have made to protect our people and our rights.

Trump is failing us.
Trump is doing what you do after you acquire a company. Crazy I know. But reality. The Dir of NIH should reach out to DOGE and offer to bring them in to remove inefficiencies.

There are always some and the Director know what they are.

DOGE gets a win. NIH gets back to work.

I'm going to write something new today, but the white media quest to normalize the idea of ending birthright citizenship has been going on for some time. Yesterday was the capstone of the white supremacist project on this issue. Here's me from 6 years ago on @abovethelaw.com

Everything happening with TikTok this weekend is a show and happening outside the legal system. I’m looking at it this way: TikTok shut down to send the message to users that Trump wanted to fix it; TikTok is coming back up before the inauguration because Trump wants it up for his inauguration.

Reasons to love the EU… GDPR 🤝🏼
Better idea: pass a comprehensive data privacy bill that applies across the board... and maybe *DON'T* mimic Chinese authoritarianism by creating a "Great Firewall" of apps that aren't allowed to operate here.

You can actually fix things AND not abuse the 1st Amendment in one shot!
I’m concerned that Americans are flocking to a number of adversary-owned social media platforms. We still need a comprehensive and risk-based approach to assessing and mitigating the risks of foreign-owned apps.

low-key one of the most insidious dumb guy beliefs of the last few decades to gain widespread purchase has been this notion that demonstrating pro-social behavior in the hope that others would notice and mirror it, one of the fucking building blocks of any kind of society, is somehow ‘fake’.
