every epstein email is some creep complaining about MeToo and then being like “oh before i forget, any advice on how to use my position of authority to force women into sleeping with me?”

this should really be illegal!
Child marriage is heinous, but one thing I never see brought up in those discussions is that if you are under 18, you cannot file for divorce. If you are under 18 and married to an adult, they are your legal guardian and make decisions for you. That is not a partnership.
Most Minors Who Are Married Can't File for Divorce — Even if They Want To
The final installment of Wedlocked, our series about child marriage in the U.S., explores divorce.

slatted sunlight through Venetian blinds illuminates my private detective office in stark contrast as I ram home the aeropress plunger on my third decaf of the day. frisking my jacket pockets, I pull out a plastic packet and shake its contents onto my desk. only four Haribo Goldbears left. no reds

This is not how it works, folks.

a notable thing here is that Jin is about as powerful and privileged as you can be - first-tier Chinese aristocracy, basically, super-connected - and that still didn't prevent her from being harassed by Summers
The Harvard Crimson has ID'ed and published the name of a well-known economist who was the subject of emails between Larry Summers and Epstein.

Born in China, she did her B.A. – Ph.D. at Harvard.

The code name that Summers and Epstein used in their emails about her was "peril." What a vile pig.

truly it is a mystery why women find it hard to get ahead in academia
"I could be a mentor to this very sharp person but as they aren't interested in me romantically I'm going to have to cut off all communication with them."

"Also, only men get the best mentors like me who can help them get into top journals. Clearly that's because men have higher IQ than women."

i'd say it did. the public put a group of thieves, vandals and extremists in office last november and they promptly went about destroying everything that might work to limit their ability to loot, steal and inflicting pain on the people they hate
This whole NYT account about the weaponization of DOJ is beyond disturbing. Kinda feels like the US government fell in January.

Man this is so right on the money this is it right here. She is the Jake Paul of Journalism
The comparison isn’t perfect but I kind of think Olivia Nuzzi is to journalism what Jake Paul is to boxing. Influencer culture usurping institutions and turning outrage and negative engagement into maximum clicks and therefore value, plus it flatters elite interests

I used the National Petroleum Reserve as an example of option value for my environmental econ students. President Harding set aside the area as an emergency oil reserve for the Navy in 1923. The current administration is moving from option value to use value as it opens more of land to drilling.

Watched BIG (1988) on the plane after decades, funny how the aspect of a film about a 12 yo who wishes himself into an adult & becomes the rich VP of a toy corp with a fake social security number that I struggled to suspend disbelief for was a kind, emotionally intelligent CEO (Robert Loggia ftw).

When you go to Auschwitz they have piles of jewellery and watches which were confiscated from those arriving.
The Sun has been told Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood will on Monday propose confiscating jewellery, watches, necklaces from asylum seekers to meet asylum costs

This reflects the most controversial aspect of the Danish scheme - the Jewellery Law. The toughest Labour MPs thought this was OTT

Severance - Season 3 (AppleTV)

Ben Stiller: "It’s coming…There will be another season. It will be soon-ish."

Given that filming has not yet begun (Patricia Arquette suggested that it is most likely to begin production in spring 2026), Severance will not return until 2027 at the earliest. 🤫

@govpritzker.illinois.gov I want you to watch this video of me slammed to the ground- why are you allowing this to happen to people you know are on the right side of history. They tied my hands behind my back and when I asked them to be loosened because I was going numb they said, “STFU.”
at one point, i watched a cook county sheriff’s officer (who appears to be in charge) point out a priest in the crowd.

he and a couple officers then went into the crowd , dragged him into the street, and arrested him.

situation is still tense as crowd jostles with police to get into the street.
