Plot twist, the people who took the other rooster have a friend who will totally take him. I just caught him & taped him into a file box (I just got rid of a bunch of cardboard so I'm low on options). I won't ask too many questions but maybe the guy will volunteer info again.

However, some good news with the bad: somebody laid her first egg this morning! ❤️
Pretty sure the green means it's the little brown bargain bin olive egger. The Ameraucana's should be more pure blue.

Update: the May chicks are a little over six months old, and unfortunately the one remaining rooster has finally figured out how to crow. I asked the people who took the other one but they don't need him. Checking with the local community. He may still end up soup.

While Ernest was out of town I had to focus on the absolute bare bones of keeping everybody functional & on time while they fought both things constantly. He's back as of last night so there is a second person to tell T6 to brush his hair & stop throwing a tantrum because I didn't order pizza on Sun

All the tax levies I voted for passed with big margins and the lady who wasn't a MAGA-beloved conservative douchebag won the judge position. Can't find the sheriff levy in this disorganized PDF but here's hopin' it failed (I'd bet it passed though 😩)

By the end of the night we were down to about a bag of the less-favored candy, a handful of trinkets, some baggies of earrings, and marbles. A very successful Halloween. I think the ✨Chest of Wonders✨will return in future years, but I have to figure out wtf to put in it - I'm fresh out of stuff!

By the end of the night we were down to about a bag of the less-favored candy, a handful of trinkets, some baggies of earrings, and marbles. A very successful Halloween. I think the ✨Chest of Wonders✨will return in future years, but I have to figure out wtf to put in it - I'm fresh out of stuff!
We had fun-size bags as backup, but first we gave out full-size candy bars, which would've made us legends enough. But the ✨Chest of Wonders✨ was also very popular. Kids said over & over that it was one of the coolest things they'd seen tonight. The only time 13-year-olds will ever think I'm cool 🥲

I couldn't find the time & energy to light the chest from within, and the front walkway is still a big dirt mound, so we set up a lamp & table in the driveway & Ernest improvised a creepy costume & shambled around like a lab-coated zombie. When people asked him what he was, he growled, "AN ACCIDENT"

Probably says something about my level of stress that I decided to just pull the trigger on some started pullets from the hatchery. These are "black sex links", a dual-purpose hybrid between two heritage breeds that's supposed to be 100% sex-able at hatch because males & females are different colors

Dishes, laundry, set up the plant corner for the winter. Lots of minor organizing. T6 found the rest of the storm door handle & Ernest tightened it again. I waited until sundown to let the unseasonable heat go away & then cut up & rolled all the old carpet into neat armloads for bulk trash pickup.

In my new grand tradition of showing up late & unprepared to a "small" "local" (12 miles away) protest, I've made it to North Ridgevile, OH, where people are lining both sides of this street between an equipment rental yard & a Chipotle & they are PISSED. #NoKings
