They are really planning to go through with these cuts at Nebraska, despite recommendations not to. Unbelievable.

If you want to hire highly qualified, very successful earth and atmospheric sciences faculty in teaching and research, quite a few are probably looking for jobs for next year.

NEW: Dems easily flipped the sheriff's office in Pennsylvania's Bucks County, a big swing county in the Philly suburbs.

So? The incumbent GOP sheriff had contracted with ICE. His Dem challenger promised to end the contract.

Now he wants other swing-state Dems to look at his victory as a lesson:

No one who suggests this idea earnestly has ever had the unique displeasure of trying to get an insurance company to do something for them. These corporations could not care less about you and whatever they might give in ACA money will be nowhere near enough to cover even the basics.
I was at an event yesterday where Rand Paul spoke via video and talked about how great it was to send ACA money "directly to the people" so that they could work collectively to get better deals on health care.

The bigger fight? Buddy, I die without health care and your pals in the Senate — none of whom will ever go without access to lifesaving medical care — told me they were gonna fight so my premiums don't go up 50%. And then they folded.
But there are real dangers out there that must be fought; and energy spent fighting each other is energy lost to that bigger fight.

This was always going to happen. AI should NEVER be responsible for anything involving high risk situations ESPECIALLY INCLUDING healthcare. Chronic pain kills if mishandled.
a few months ago I said "having generative AI handle absolutely anything with regards to healthcare is a nightmare and should be banned" and a bunch of people made fun of me and called me stupid. anyways,

This reminds me of the old Car Talk idea of a “haunted car”: you could replace every part and it would somehow still be a lousy car.

Organizations can be like that, too.
What if I told you that the University of Michigan was one of the most infamous offenders of faculty and student rights during McCarthyism? It feels like their current moves targeting student protestors are in alignment with this dubious honor.
