This is a crazy graph.

(Though I do wonder to what extent the growth may have been driven by the addition of new funded stops--which is also very good!--rather than by infill in currently well-serviced areas?)
We are building near transit. In 2025, a record high of 30% of homes were permitted within 800m or a 15-minute walk of an LRT station.

In fact, the entire cumulative distribution of homes is bowed out and to the left, meaning even more homes within a short bus or bike ride.

Carney isn't just failing Canada, he's failing the world. If we don't stand for democracy and a rules-based international order, why would any other country come to Canada's defence when we need it?

I would like to acknowledge one innovation that the Washington Post editorial page has led.
It may be the first social media page where the replies from readers are qualitatively better than the content of the writers.

This literally sounds like an Onion article (but one of those ones where they just state the truth in an amusing way).
Here’s a gift link to the New York Times’ story, which is refreshingly frank.

You bombed a foreign country and killed 40 people.
STEPHANOPOULOS: Why wasn't congressional authorization necessary?

RUBIO: It wasn't necessary because this was not an invasion. We didn't occupy a country. This was an arrest operation.

It’s awkward to call out what remains, technically, an allied nation for violations of international law, but fellow NATO members France and Norway have managed (likely also others—I haven’t done a detailed canvass).

Perhaps the Governor General should knock on the door of Rideau Cottage to make sure he too was not kidnapped by the US military overnight?

Wait, did Roman numerals become archaic sometime between my childhood and now?
It's 2026.

Things many American school kids probably don't know how to do:

* Dial a rotary telephone

* Tell time from an analog clock

* Read or write cursive

* Decipher Roman numerals

* Navigate with a paper map or use a compass

* Balance a checkbook

This is one advantage of multiparty democracies over two-party ones (besides the fact that you can still have a reasonably functioning democracy if one party goes full fash): can I imagine falling in love with somebody who votes differently than I do? Sure!
there's a "youths won't date outside their political tribe" piece every year, always written by an outlet terrified to tell the truth about conservatives, so they never do math like "a 23 year old was -10 the last time the GOP could hear the words planned parenthood without their eyes gushing blood"
