UK vax eligibility is based on fundamentally flawed cost-benefit analysis & total failure to understand the cumulative damage Covid reinfection is doing to our population's health, & how this drives economic damage & benefit costs. It makes no clinical or economic sense. Come and find out more 👇

The bad news:
#H3N2 is new flu strain, "generally thought to cause more illness & be worse for older adults than other strains".

* This, on top of 5+ years of #COVID reinfections, a virus known to dysregulate the immune system.

The good news:
It's PREVENTABLE with an #N95 mask & #CleanAir.
1/ H3N2 that’s circulated worldwide this year “acquired 7 new mutations over the summer,” Antonia Ho, of Scotland’s U of Glasgow, said.

That “means the virus is quite different to the H3N2 strain included in this year’s vaccine,” she said.

Warnings rise for U.S. as severe flu strain causes outbreaks in Canada, U.K.
A flu strain that emerged over the summer is causing "unprecedented" outbreaks in Japan, as well as in Canada and the U.K. The CDC hasn't provided insights on flu in the U.S. in nearly two months.

Thank you to everyone who visited TAGS festival and the Radical Book Fair, and wore a mask to keep everyone safer! Did you spot these fantastic minis @covidcrafting.bsky.social made for us, or pick up some of their stickers?

Masking works. My respirator has kept me free from Covid and flu for six years. 😷

Vaccines are great, but not inhaling viruses into your body is super cool when vaccines do not provide 100% protection. Vaccines & masking in combination FTW.

We can reduce the number of #Covid and all airborne disease infections this winter by considering the safety of our gatherings.

Hold them online or outdoors. #Ventilate spaces. Keep CO2 levels below 800ppm. Run air purifiers. Wear respirator masks.

One of the highlights of my year in Edinburgh is the @lighthousebks.bsky.social Radical Bookfair, it's such a fab event centering community care, and this year comrades from @edinmaskbloc.bsky.social provided 1500+ masks to attendees! 🥳 As usual I completely blew my budget, here's my book haul 📚

It was an emotional topic, and I also found myself welling up at the sight of a room full of masked faces. As a #longcovid sufferer I'm usually the only one in a mask, hoping it will be enough to keep me safe. This was such a rare relief in what sometimes feels like an ocean of denial

Sometimes when people ask me why I’m wearing a mask I say I’m traveling or have some important thing soon and can’t afford to get sick and miss it and that’s pretty much always true but I think it would be nice if it were more normalized to just say “I don’t want to get sick” and leave it at that

Protect yourself, but also protect the visitors and especially protect the artists who are sat in a crowded hall for 15 hours. If you have COVID, you’re often contagious before symptoms, so please take precautions

1️⃣ 🧵 NEW: The government’s Keep Britain Working report claims to tackle the UK’s crisis of ill health & economic inactivity.

But it never mentions Long Covid.
Not once.
Not the pandemic either.

That’s not a small oversight — it’s a fundamental flaw. Let’s unpack why 👇
