As a historian, I fully embrace that the 1990s are now considered a historical era worthy of being analysed properly.
As someone in their mid-40s, this is also an outrageous insult to suggest that a significant passage of time has occurred!

This. If Palestinians and their allies are not allowed to use the word "intifada" because some Jews associate that word with violence against Jews, then no one should be able to call themselves a Zionist, since most Palestinians associate that word with genocide against them
By this standard which nobody actually adheres to Jews would be precluded from identifying as Zionist because of what Zionism means to every Palestinian on the planet. Is this standard reciprocal or do are there competing claims on the basis of standpoint which need to be independently interrogated?
I'll say it again: if any other ethnic or religious minority said "please don't use this particular term or chant, you might not have bad intentions but it is deeply racist and threatening to us", the reaction would be mortified apology.

1) There is no evidence that the Bondi killers ever shouted 'globalize the intifada' or even attended any pro-Palestine demonstrations or events
