Not for nothing, but I think it’s telling that now that we’ve got all these AI technologies that you can use to visualize any sort of fake reality you want, the most eager adopters are using them to create glimpses of their own nightmares in order to reinforce their own prejudices.

Let us all take pleasure in appreciating a movie or a book or a sport or a historical fact today. Not only will we get the inherent benefits, we’ll get the added benefits of doing it for spite.

This story is silly and no one cares, but it'd be fun if the first hour of the new film is just Q meticulously sewing Bond's body back together
James Bond’s death in No Time to Die is causing a nightmare for the next film. Writers are stuck because Bond “was blown to pieces.”

Anthony Horowitz, author of three 007 novels, says:

“You can't have him wake up in shower and saying it was all a dream."

And this one.

A whole 3 years!!
If it will take three years to replace Amazon Web Services, why not use to budget to GET ON WITH IT? You think that young, patriotic techies wouldn’t jump at the chance to secure Canada against the US? We needed moonshots. Instead, we got tax incentives.

Another good thread here from @bhaggart.bsky.social

The first thing that jumps out at me is a lot of power of decision-making in one person's hands, an untested, rookie MP with not an entirely unblemished backstory.
“The Liberal government plans to use its buying power to spur the development of data centres in Canada, but won’t yet commit significant sums to fund projects itself.”

Lots to unpack here, including many questions that probably should’ve been answered before Carney decided on his AI strategy.

We need more consultation so that IntegrityTO can have more time to AI more bad misinformation.
The folks at IntegrityTO have finally weighed in on neighbourhood retail with AI generated scenes of creepy faceless loiterers congregating outside a 7-11…

Mind you the recommendation (that didn’t make it past committee) was for *corner lots*. They can’t even prompt right.

There’s a lot to take issue with here, but “your next door neighbour can turn their house into a Cannabis store / bar… with no vetting or application process” is laughably false. What if I were to tell you that both of those things have very lengthy processes of their own?
