From this minister's op-ed: "People wanting to experience God are more likely to meet the Divine trying to shut down the Broadview, Illinois, ICE facility than we ever were in church...God does not live in our houses of worship, but...with those who are bearing the brunt of cruelty in this moment."
Oh wow @reuters.com got the photo here:

democrats of all stripes should be rallying around kat abughazaleh asap. it doesnt matter where you stand ideologically. trying to jail dissenters is fundamentally unamerican and 100% fascist. democratic leaders at all levels should be making noise about it. you dont need a poll or focus group.

Political violence disproportionately hurts people with less power, not people with more power. Political violence will disproportionately hurt people of color and women and LGBTQ people. It’s not fair, but that’s the way it works. Celebrating political violence means at best indifference to that.
Political violence is bad. It usually begets more political violence.

Celebrating political violence is bad. It usually encourages more political violence, against various targets.

Campus shootings are bad. They make everyone on campus less safe.

It's bad that what I wrote here is controversial.

the intensity of my anger at those who would criminalize the homeless — a population literally created by the greed and callousness of the ruling class — is very hard to contain. it was you who dismantled the safety net. if you don’t like the results, put it back

This is exactly the right tone when privileged people suffer minor or temporary consequences standing up for powerless people. It’s still about the powerless people.

ICE is Gestapo trash.
"I'm happy to report I'm just fine. I lost a button. But I'm gonna sleep in my bed tonight, safe, with my family... At that elevator, I was separated from someone named Edgardo... Edgardo is in ICE detention and he's not going to sleep in his bed tonight."

The claims that McIver, Padilla, and Lander were committing assault should make you question every other time LEOs claim assault or resisting arrest, if you weren’t already.

George Floyd should be alive today.

He should be raising his daughter, living his life.

5 years later, we owe him more than thoughts and hashtags.

His daughter said, “My daddy changed the world.”

Let’s stop failing her, and him.

Congress must pass the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act.

A lot of people like to dismiss racism as insubstantial to material realities but we’re watching a nation burn trillions of dollars in wealth to entrench a racial system of domination.

At a more basic level, in a democratic society, due process before a neutral fact finder is how we evaluate a conditional statement that begins with “if you <allegation>.” It doesn’t turn on and off depending on the allegation.
Reminder: This is false (it’s not “invasion”), unconstitutional (even illegal immigrants are entitled to due process), and fascist (trying to demonize and lawlessly eradicate minority groups by kidnapping them off the street and sending them to foreign prison camps).

Every safety regulation was written in blood, frequently with a body count higher than one, and it’s not political to put the blame on people who want to “move fast and break things” when they start breaking human lives.

The whole point of naming laws after victims is to stampede over the unpopular fact that the Bill of Rights revolves around protecting the rights of the accused
It's really hard to explain to people who haven't spent time invested in criminal law, but laws named after past victims of crimes are almost always atrocious.
The Laken Riley Act is another data point in favor of a small theory of mine:

Any criminal legal law named after a person is a terrible law w egregious overreach.

This man and a small group of capitol police officers singlehandedly saved our democracy four years ago.

In November, 77 million Americans said "to hell with them" and voted for the insurrectionists.

Your "Back the Blue" flags are a pathetic disgrace and your patriotism is bullsh*t.
