This. Get me someone who works the system, who politicks unapologetically, for civil rights and justice, for taxing billionaires and protecting the weak and defenseless.
To hell with a Joe Rogan for the left. Can I have a Mitch McConnell for Democrats, please? Imagine having someone who would go as hard in the paint for civil rights as McConnell did for antiblackness.

Star Trek has changed over the years. The Star Trek that was made in the 60s and the Star Trek being made in the 2020s are very different beast, presented and constructed differently.

I believe that the core message is the same, even if it looks different. I like that it grows

Men have hated Janeway, Burnham and now Ake, it’s always down to them not conforming to how men believe they should act.

They’ll even throw around how they’re “terribly written”, even when they’re similar to their male counterparts.
Hate this misogynistic crap.
First, If you don’t like Captain Ake why does it have to be about her being a woman? People hate Neelix/Wesley/Barclay but they’re not held up as a bad example of a men.

2nd the hate for Ake is coming from her not conforming to what men expert her to act like 🚮

I feel so bad for the devs, both for getting fired so quickly and for what I can only imagine are the psychological ramifications of spending years working on a game in such a fickle genre with so many high profile failures to the point where I have to imagine this outcome must have felt inevitable
Wildlight (Highguard) lays off staff according to a LinkedIn post

"Unfortunately, along with most of the team at Wildlight, I was laid off today.

This one really stings as there was a lot of unreleased content I was really looking forward to that I and others designed for Highguard."

at this point, even if you think that reforming ICE instead of abolishing is the mainstream opinion (it's not)

i can only assume posting this shit here is some kind of rhetorical dominance display

like you know no one on bsky wants to hear this shit, it's bordering on trolling at this point
Our DHS reform demands are exceedingly reasonable.

We're asking ICE to do nothing more than follow the standards that the vast majority of law enforcement agencies already follow.

Republicans, the ball is in your court. The clock is ticking.

There was a #StarTrekProdigy Art Book in the works. I was going to co-write it.

It went into limbo when it was removed from Paramount+ with uncertainty if Season Two would find a home. Then more uncertainty when Paramount was merging with Skydance.

If you want it — Trek fans should rally for it!
That said, if they don't release a #StarTrekProdigy art book it will be a literal crime.

3-5 years ago: Recent

6-10 years ago: Wait that was how long ago

10-15 years ago: No hold on go back one

15-20 years ago: Please stop a second please

20-30 years ago: I swear to god I will cut you

Just want to say, I see all the comments saying it’s a sign of his senility or mental decline. You could be right but I have a thing about linking racism to mental acuity. Not sure it needs to be, most of the time, and I don’t like the idea of racism as deviant, for a lot of reasons.

there are, to over simplify, two kinds of people:

the kind who define right and wrong by how much they adhere to an arbitrary rule or law

and those who define it by employing empathy and aiming to minimize harm to others

and the former will almost always be more evil than the latter
This level of apologia (from Megan McArdle in a podcast with Josh Barro and Ross Douthat) is fucking appalling. Idk what else there is to say.

Why yachts?

Seriously. All the motherfuckers buy a giant boat. It's the most basic bitch shit a billionaire does. Get a billion dollars, buy a goddamn yacht.

Why?

Do they really all believe in that "international waters means I can do anything" shit?
