You have to remember that Trump, Miller, et al are living in a fantasy world. They're high on their own supply. They think authoritarianism is an extension of the will to power - if they simply act like dictators and believe in themselves hard enough, they'll be given absolute control.
The thing you absolutely must remember about the Trump admin is that THEY DO NOT HAVE ENOUGH GUYS. They just don't have enough! They don't have enough to do mass deportations, they don't have enough to occupy cities, they certainly don't have enough to suppress regular dissent.
