Trump wants to appear eager to minimize clashes between his government militias and protesters. But he doesn't want them to stop doing the things that are causing the clashes in the first place. The "pivot" is really about getting Dems to back off in budget talks. 3/

“55% of Americans say they have very little confidence in ICE, an increase of 10 percentage points since mid-December”

It’s a tipping point
Falling confidence in ICE, Independents turn on Trump, congressional Democrats slump, and foreign policy

IMPORTANT
There's been a lot of discussion about the echoes of the civil rights movement in the protests today, with people obviously drawing comparisons between the strategies, tactics and coalitions that were vital then and are still vital now.

But this post has me thinking about a different echo ...
I suspect right now Stephen Miller and the other nazis are meeting to discuss how a place not as “nice" or "peaceful” as Minnesota will provide better oxygen for their lies and goals of martial law.

Come on. People can express offensive views and not lose their jobs. Shouldn't matter if it's left or right.

CBP chief Bovino has confirmed that the officers who executed Alex Pretti in the street yesterday are not only *not on administrative leave,* they have all been reassigned to other jurisdictions and are all on the street today.

This is totally unheard of for any officer-involved shooting

Ah, the old NRA is back
Folks have been noting the creepiness of this NRA statement on the Minneapolis murder that DOESN'T affirm Alex Pretti's right to have a gun at a protest, instead blaming "radical progressive politicians lie Tim Walz" who have "incited violence against law enforcement officers" for his death....

I understand why some can’t watch the video and absolutely support that choice. But if you can, I think you should. Yes, there have been so many of these over the years; *and* these are escalating times. It’s not more the same, it’s worse, and we need to face that best we can to change it.

Would you trust this man with your children?
"Experts in dealing with children" don't treat children as targets of immigration enforcement actions.

Family separation under the first Trump administration didn’t happen by accident, it was a deliberate choice.

And the playbook behind family separation is a warning for our present moment.

There’s an extremely disturbing video showing heavily armed agents wrestling a person to the ground in a struggle, then shooting him multiple times after he was on the ground, then seeming to walk away from him.
