Trans people needing hormones but lacking medical access for whatever reason: they're fairly easy and cheap to get elsewhere! See 🧵 by @katie.bzky.team ->
i am very exhausted by disinformation about the cost of transition healthcare. it costs less than $100 for 1-2 years of hormones, depending on your exact sourcing. presenting HRT as impossibly expensive and inaccessible to people who need HRT but don't know how is equivalent to medical gatekeeping.

Hot damn, I love this town.
You don’t know your role yet maybe, but we are all finding out just what we have to offer.

In Minneapolis, one man knew immediately what he could offer and said “Bring me your clothing”.

This is a good reminder that I have to stop making so many excuses and make more calls myself. It's the only person I can control.

I will say it would be cool if you'd do some too, but the only person who can control that is you.
I get it but all the literature says 1. All reps overestimate the representativeness of callers 2. The number of calls needed to worry a politician is really low 3. All reps tend to overestimate the conservatism of their district but calls start to adjust that. Slow boring of hard boards

This is incredible and valuable work: an oral history of the past few weeks here in MN.

Love and appreciate media that both highlights how bad the situation is AND how fierce and caring and relentless our community's response continues to be.

The 5-year-old arrested by ICE In Minnesota is detained at Dilley. We reported on conditions there in the below article.

Parents said the food was contaminated with mold and worms & that children were so under so much stress that they were hitting their own faces & wetting themselves.
Analysis by The Marshall Project of ICE data obtained by the Deportation Data Project found that the Trump administration’s revival of family detention has swept thousands of children into ICE custody. At least 3,800 children under 18, including 20 infants, have been booked since Trump took office.
ICE Threw Thousands of Kids in Detention, Many For Longer Than Court-Prescribed Limit
Former immigration staffers argue ICE is choosing to detain families for prolonged periods to speed deportations and compel them to leave.

National media should really be covering the fact thay every major school, museum, and arts institution in the Twin Cities, and hundreds of local businesses are closed tomorrow to protest federal occupation.

Nothing like this at this scale has happened anywhere in America anytime in living memory.

This could create serious momentum for strikes in other cities where ICE attacks.

It's insanely chaotic on the ground here and I get that a lot of people want to help and maybe don't know how to go about doing it. Neighborhood orgs are all over and they're not that hard to find, don't go asking random people. There are lots of public options to help out and that counts, too!

I keep seeing leftists from outside of Minneapolis say they’ve seen all this before, and no, you haven’t. I’ve been at this for 30+ years and I haven’t either. It’s not what you’re picturing. This is something else
I know people keep saying this but it’s hard to communicate the depth of active resistance here. Like, I’m on random cafes and people are checking in for observation shifts. Signs everywhere. Folks in visibility vests on the corners. It’s wild. Absolutely wild.

Can't emphasize this enough. Moving beyond shame toward true solidarity with all people is how we get free. It's how we move toward a new and better world for those who come after us.

Repair is needed, and that repair and restoration is part and parcel of the world we're building.
I'm not saying to dunk on this person AT ALL but because I want this point elevated.

I don't want you to be ashamed to be a white American. The history of white Americans who sided against whiteness and acted in solidarity with others has been suppressed as ruthlessly as the history of violence.
At this point in the history of our country, I am very ashamed to be a white American! I don’t want to be mistaken for a thug who is so brain dead they convince themselves that they are better than anyone else because they are white!
I have never & would never BELIEVE THEIR CONVICTED FELON!

this thread about Minneapolis fuckin rocks, and I want to shoutout the Chicago patrollers who have been guarding schools throughout the frigid temperatures, too

“decentralized in a way they can’t handle,” as Margaret says
Today I talked with a 76 year old who'd been standing in the cold for hours guarding her neighbors. I was getting kind of chilly, even in the new winter gear i bought for this trip (and I live in the goddam mountains myself).

She didn't even have a hat on.
