HASSETT: We're comfortable that inflation has come way down

HASSETT: Well I guess there's ups and downs and seasonals

There are ~5,000 armed ICE agents, and ~20,000 CBP border patrol officers (the ones who work outside).

The NYPD alone has ~35,000 cops.

This is not an argument for complacency, but against doomerism.

And to note the importance of flagging their performative toughness aimed at masking weakness.

@chrislhayes.bsky.social nice work having Bucks county sheriff-elect and having him clearly explain how deputizing law enforcement for ICE activity makes it less safe for citizens. Danny Ciesler did a great job explaining and clearly doesn't talk like a politician would.

Taking this out of Prof Kruse's thread to (re?)tell a story from my college years. It's the summer of 1991. The Berlin Wall has just come down a year and a half ago. It's so fresh in everyone's mind that in Berlin, people were still walking the long way around a wall that isn't there anymore.
The diplomatic fuckup after WW1 is a lot clearer: the failure of the League of Nations leading to German reparations and concomitant hyperinflation. The one post-WW2 diplomatic fuckup of which I can think is: the Allies didn't fully denazify Germany; tough to blame anyone for the East/West split.

50 year mortgage - for those who can only afford rent but also want to pay for their own home repairs.
QUINTANILLA: What's more likely -- a $2,000 tariff rebate check or a 50 year mortgage?

HASSETT: They're both really good ideas

Nailed it.
“The people” in this sentence are 10 white male billionaires
Trump: "We want a healthcare system where we pay the money to the people instead of the insurance companies. We're gonna be working on that very hard over the next short period of time. Where the people get the money. We're talking about trillions and trillions of dollars."

Now that Dems have capitulated, at the very least they should now make every future extension of funding contingent on Trump following the law. Any lawbreaking must be met with: No more votes from us, period.

When midterms can swing 25 seats one way or another, Not much difference so far.
If you score remap shifts between safe/competitive seats as +/-0.5, here's how the count looks today, to my eye:

CA: Dem +4.5
MO: GOP +1
NC: GOP +0.5
OH: GOP +0.5
TX: GOP +4
UT: Dem +1

That leaves Republicans ahead by half a seat, w/ FL, IN & VA the biggest remaining variables.

the real move if you want to be the presidential nominee in 2028 is to come out and say who did the vote swapping, air the dirty laundry, and say “our voters deserve better” imo. position yourself as the champion of the dem base against the crooked leadership they hate

Mamdani'd as a verb, count me in.

MAGA will lose their minds if they heat it used that way. 😂

Oregon doing it right, at least.
Both Oregon's senators are opposed to a deal to end the longest federal government shutdown in history, with Sen. Jeff Merkley calling it "a brutal blow to all those who have stood together to save affordable health care for more than 20 million Americans."

Has Kaine learned nothing from Lucy and her football?
Kaine (D-VA) supports the deal

“This deal guarantees a vote to extend ACA premium tax credits, which Republicans weren’t willing to do. Lawmakers know their constituents expect them to vote for it, and if they don’t, they could very well be replaced at the ballot box by someone who will.”
