There are more than half a million elected offices in the United States. There are tens of thousands of elections conducted ever year other than those on the November biennial.

Fun fact: that works out to about one elected office for every 500 American adults.
I will say that one of the reasons I'm deeply frustrated with the "like they're ever going to have elections again" doomerism is that it's big "oh so you REALLY only think there are elections every 4 years, or 2 at best?"

man the number of elections we've been having this whole time.

Seriously, if you've ever considered running for office, now's the time. Go check out @runforsomething.net. This is looking like a 25+ point swing in TEXAS -- nearly doubling the average +13 swing we've been seeing.

Don't leave any seat unchallenged. Make the GOP spend all their resources.
JUST IN: Democrats flip a red seat in the Texas Senate.

Taylor Rehmet wins against Leigh Wambsganss, a conservative activist who helped lead right-wing efforts to take over TX school boards.

With all early vote, and 95% of precincts, in, Dem up 57/43.

Trump won this seat by 17% in Tarrant County.

I dunno, I kind of think a federal force that is over 100% the size of local law enforcement is a good reference point. ICE adds workload to law enforcement. IMO a number like 50% make more sense but math is hard for this administration.

For news nerds, here's a link to a national ICE raid alert network. I have found it helpful for finding *local* news sources reporting on ICE activity in their areas, giving a broader picture than what the national media can produce. See an alert, Google "ICE " and poof.

I know all eyes are on Minneapolis, but there's a fast-approaching nightmare in Springfield, Ohio.

Trump is revoking protected status for tens of thousands of Haitians living there on Feb. 3.

Reportedly, on Feb. 4, 1000 ICE agents are arriving to remove this population. Ethnic cleansing.

Incredibly niche thing I feel obligated to share:

During the anti-ICE, clergy-led protest in Minneapolis where the photo below was taken last week, one of the pastors grabbed the bullhorn and declared:

"This is the country that gave the world Star Wars. And we clergy are the non-violent Jedi."
