One of the reasons people take dementia tests is that you retain verbal acuity and capacity longer than critical reasoning, on average by about 3-6 years, so there are people who are effectively just not capable of processing information and reacting who sound completely fine if you talk to them.

I am going to run something set in the 1970s just so I can explain to my 20-something players that the reason their characters don't mind the clouds of cigarette smoke is because the miasma of tetra-ethyl lead killed their sense of smell.
this is a good reminder of how things that are shitty but have been accepted as normal and inevitable can actually turn out to be abnormal and evitable with some science, time, education and political will

Hard no to this: French publisher Harlequin has told translators that their work will now be done by AI. They can ‘revise’ AI translations at much lower rate. It’s a subsidiary of Harper Collins so treat this as a test for rollout elsewhere

Niece got put on blockers cos she hit puberty at 10, my son was in line to get them at 11 but Dr said kids are hitting puberty younger nowadays. Said early in her career my kid would have been on them no question but come back if we wanted them

My short cis child had hormones/puberty blockers aggressively pushed on him by drs starting at age 5 bc they were concerned about his height

i hate that AI is such a buzzword these days because it's all linear algebra soup and sometimes the soup is actually extremely good. GFS's reduced accuracy in previous events (hurricane sandy, notably) from computational limitations has cost lives. 99.7% reduction with comparable accuracy is insane.
