In one of our signal chats, a neighbor calls these “fuckaroundabouts”
Minneapolis residents are trying a new tactic to slow and deter federal agents from entering city neighborhoods. Called filter blockades, they’re pop-up block parties in the middle of city streets, and they’ve already earned the ire of Trump border czar Tom Homan (1) www.mprnews.org/story/2026/0...

It's amazing that 4 congressional Dems voted to make it *illegal for married women to vote*, and the rest of the Dems didn't respond "ok yeah you are not allowed to call yourself a Democrat anymore, we're not going to help fundraise for you, just go fuck yourself"

to close out this chapter of "arguing with liberals," here's someone using nicer language than mine to explain the problem & why some of us bother with arguing in the first place.

we just had a mayoral election 3 months ago, and minneapolis rejected omar fateh. low information “voters” should stop making signs like this and start looking in the mirror

top schumering lately. his party's supporters want ICE abolished; he proposes ICE being reformed, & then those reforms are a bunch of half-measures like the agents not wearing masks, & then he waters that down until we land on the agents not wearing masks unless they say they have a reason. 10/10
Chuck Schumer says ICE should be allowed to wear masks in "unusual circumstances—you know, some guy's picture was put up by a terrorist group or something."

in the unlikely event anyone in dem leadership sees this:

Senate Majority Leader John Thune said Thursday that demands made by Democrats for new restrictions on federal immigration officers are “unrealistic” and warned that the Department of Homeland Security will shut down next week if they do not work with Republicans and the White House.

have you tried being internally consistent?

having been where you are, I know that the cure for that is internal moral consistency. it doesn't inform all actions or strategies going forward, but it certainly helps with the despair.

here's a hint: the communists have always been correct.

"the arc of history bends toward justice... but not if justice seekers make too much noise & are mean to democrats."
I always like to think that the arc of history bends towards justice, but then I remember that these are usually the loudest voices in the room. Win an election with candidates who can build a majority coalition and then get back to me.

*to be clear, i myself have utterly lost faith in electoralism as a vehicle for substantive change & improvement of material conditions

just planting seeds so lib types maybe learn to stop blaming the wrong people re: long-past elections
all of this is to say: anger at voters is misplaced (& unhelpful if you want dems to win)

feasibility or likelihood w/r/t viability of 3rd parties winning in a fptp system notwithstanding, more than 2 available options = not binary.

sorting past presidential winners by party affiliation might result in a *bimodal* distribution, but that doesn't reduce voters' options to a binary choice.
a binary is a set limited to 2. add a 3rd thing (or more) to the set & it ain't binary anymore.

the set of options for voters in 2024's presidential race—inclusive of 3rd party candidates, 'none of the above' & 'not voting'—was more than 2.

maybe you should learn what a binary is?

one thing liberals love to do is describe moral atrocities as quirky minor personal flaws. someone says "I don't want to vote for a candidate committing genocide abroad and funding the Gestapo at home" and they're like "oh so it's illegal not to be perfect now"

worthwhile & illustrative reading.

no, really. read this.

the choice bits @chrisgeidner.bsky.social highlights are shockingly frank considering the source is a court transcript + it's not too legalese-y, so even if you're not a law person you'll immediately pick up on how troubling this all is.
I don't know when I last read something like the transcript out of Minnesota, so I spent the evening putting this together.
