I wish it was possible to explain to people that there are actual human beings being “larger accounts” or however we want to frame it, and those people are just as real as they are. They’re not characters, they’re not created for you to consume. They’re *people*.

Not saying this will hold for everybody but:
I was running into trouble getting my MMR. I’m like… 90% sure I got it as a child because I’m almost sure I needed it to go to college. For context, I’m near a county that recently had a measles outbreak
So the magic words were “homeschoolers”

If you are worried this is too big an executive function barrier you can go to a pharmacy and they will probably just jab you. That is what I did.
I'm not saying it's necessarily the right way to do this, that is just how much I am not fucking around with the measles

Go to your doctor and get your measles titers checked to make sure you are still immune and if not get re-vaccinated. It’s more and more likely all of us are going to eventually come in contact with it.

the only way I think “extra time on tests” gets misused is as a way to “accommodate” students who would actually benefit from a completely different set of accommodations the university is unwilling to provide. so they can say “there, you’re accommodated, stop complaining.”
Just got my print copy of @theatlantic.com and this same ol' crap was in it. Disability #accommodations in #college are NOT a scam. They are UNDER utilized. But the myth persists.

the only way I think “extra time on tests” gets misused is as a way to “accommodate” students who would actually benefit from a completely different set of accommodations the university is unwilling to provide. so they can say “there, you’re accommodated, stop complaining.”
The Brown campus isn't a closed campus, it's fairly integrated into the East Side of Providence. Not to mention how many people Brown employs, how many unrelated businesses are in the area, how many schools there are in walking distance, etc. It's going to hit a LOT of people very hard.
The academics on here especially, many of us know someone or many people at Brown or have personal links to the institution in some way
There is a proximity for us that means people may be feeling shocked in a way that is persona
