Everything you’re hearing from the Trump administration is a lie. Today was one of the most active days in Northeast since the entire Operation Metro Surge began.

Nothing is changing on the ground in Minneapolis, no matter what headlines Trump and Homan try to create.

I think this is the kind of thing that cuts Trump to his core.
So there was just a very loud and sustained "Fuck ICE" chant during a pro wrestling show on live primetime television, if you wanna get a sense of the vibe shift.

(One of the wrestlers, Brody King, is an outspoken prigressive and wore an "Abolish ICE" shirt at a Mexico show in June.)

yep, they kill spaces for artistry and creativity not because they seriously believe they have no worth, but because they have the kind of the worth they can't unilaterally control, quantify, and securitize for their own gain
This is about The Washington Post but it is also about the slow death of movie theaters, of book stores—the rapid integration of AI into schools—the Kennedy Center—the way so many people in power are afraid of art (and wow even sports) for the power it has to give people common language and cause.

always bears repeating that this is NOT a financial decision. jeff bezos is worth over 250 billion dollars. he can afford to lose many millions and never even notice it. this is, at its core, a political and personal decision by bezos to destroy the post
WASHINGTON (AP) — Washington Post says one-third of its staff across all departments, not just the newsroom, is being laid off.

A lot of people went out of their way to make their cars look like undercover cars, I am noticing. Probably not very fun right now to drive one

What gets me is the amount of people I talk to that say “if you’re here legally, you have nothing to worry about.”

I know our newsfeeds are catered. I know how this works. But I’m simply stunned at how wrong that belief is and how it’s possible to actually believe it.
ICE is running a “conveyor belt” of illegally detained Minnesota families.

Agents are arresting entire families with legal status and immediately shipping them off to Texas to deny them legal representation and avoid the federal courts in Minnesota.

The cruelty is endless.

this is your mission. our pedophile president needs you to wake up at 5 am and don 30 lbs of tactical gear you bought off amazon to sit in a chevy tahoe in the parking lot of the elementary school where you kidnapped a five year old kid to intimidate his teachers. good luck soldier
Columbia Heights (Liam's school district) cancelled school today because of a credible bomb threat at Liam's elementary and multiple ICE vehicles parking in the high school staff parking lot at 6:15am.

Completely insane way to use money. I've virtually never done Doordash. I could see why it's needed at times but $200-300 a week is absurd lol

Awful to even try to catalogue the harm being done here in MN.

Educational harms, students out school? At least months.

Economic harms, from empty, half-functioning businesses? At least years.

Civic and psychic harms, from shattering the basic sense of safety? Decades.

Stolen neighbors? Forever.
Exactly. The harm being done to our immigrant communities, the harm being done to communities of color, the harm being done to all of us, will not be measured in days or months. It will be measured in generations.

He literally pardoned 1500 actual violent insurrectionists.

"More than 600 rioters had been convicted of or pleaded guilty to assault of or obstructing law enforcement officers and 170 of using a deadly weapon."

Just a fundamentally evil, malevolent person. Rotten to the very core.
