There is nothing inherently better about rolling 2d6 vs a d12, rolling over or under a stat for a skill check, or using tokens.
The special part is when you, the designer, noticing how a particular mechanic lets you share a part of the human experience

The thought has entered my mind, and I can't get rid of it. Namely, writing a Romantasy Novel, and seeing how long it takes for readers to realize that the male romantic lead is just Lord Zedd from Power Rangers.

Because of Vagabond’s success, I was able to get Apollo a seriously life changing surgery to remove a lipoma from his paw. My 11 year old best friend is happier and healthier because of you all’s support. I can’t even begin to tell you how much this means to me.

It's not reasonable to expect any system to be 100% perfect. I mean, it's a solid goal that good designers strive for, but it's not a fatal flaw in a game if you find the odd situation not covered to your satisfaction in the rules as written.

Good golly, I missed some odd TTRPG discussions this week.
Like, "rule of cool" being misunderstood is all well and good, but fundamentally if you want a specific play experience and the game/system you're running your game with doesn't do that, then that's a shortcoming or mismatch.

When it comes to "Bodegas are not convience stores" I just saw someone try to give a specific description of a Bodega, and litterally like 80% of it applied to the convience store down the street in my neighborhood. I live in the coastal empire part of Georgia.
