Delighted to announce that my first book, THE LIE OF THE LAND, is due for publication on September 4th next via @penguinrandomhouse.bsky.social.

It's a frank assessment of Ireland and the #Climate emergency, with a roadmap towards a more food and energy-secure future.
“But they’re too expensive, they’ll never catch on, they’re just a green gimmick” etc etc.

Nope.

Hell of a way to report that a lawless wannabe dictator has just illegally kidnapped the head of a sovereign state.

Legacy media scrambling to justify criminal behaviour is utter cowardice.

Lest anyone for a single moment thinks this latest coup is a somehow a dramatic breach of long-term US foreign policy.

There’s a lot of evil in the world, but is there anywhere on Earth where it is more concentrated, persistent and malign than in the genocidal coloniser state of Israel?

The Israeli government says the organisations have not met new requirements, which include recognising Israel as a Jewish and democratic state and banning any so-called "de-legitimisation" of Israel.

In 8 years as an EV driver I have never, ever encountered a single instance of this “I switched back to diesel” yet here it is, being flagged as a “Story of the Year” for 2025.

Gives some idea of the mountain to be climbed in terms of overturning persistent myths & misconceptions.

Seasonal best wishes to all! Am of course in no way suggesting that the below would make an ideal stocking-filler, but you never know!

Ok, 16 innocent people brutally killed in Bondi Beach attack – response is wall-to-wall global news coverage & condemnation.

Meanwhile, 400+ innocent people brutally killed by Israel *since* Oct “ceasefire” – response is near-total silence from world’s media.

Pod of my final Last Word on the environment for 2025 with Matt Cooper on Today FM is now available.

Just finished the final weekly Last Word on the environment of 2025 with Matt Cooper on Today FM.

We discussed the EU’s ill considered back-pedalling on phaseout internal combustion vehicles, plus rise of renewables & remarkable drops in battery costs that are a potential game-changer.

I just finished this powerful & shocking book.
The detail - and copious references - starkly show how we have been deceived & lied to. Govt leadership on the issue is collapsing despite ordinary ppl wanting action and taking action (domestic PV & heatpump installs, EVs, cycling, retrofits, etc)

Thinking of signing up up to Threads? Those nice, trustworthy people at Meta would like to gather one or two pieces of information about you, for their files, of course.
Nothing at all sinister about this. Honestly.

The increasingly far-right EPP grouping in European Parliament, which sadly includes Fine Gael, has just come up with genius plan to resuscitate obsolete, #climate- destroying late 19th century technology, at the whim of fossil fuel lobby.

A triumph for Putin, China & utter ignominy for Europe.

Below is 'before' and 'after' of website of the US-EPA, after the Stalin-esque purge of facts that the Dear Leader isn't happy about.

Those whom the gods would destroy, first, they make mad.

Will discuss this & other topics around 5.30 on my weekly environmental slot on The Last Word on Today FM

These two stories are somehow connected. Apparently, if you lobby tirelessly for more pollution & ecological wreckage, that’s exactly what you get.

What a shocker. Agriculture minister who’s also a livestock farmer thinks livestock farmers should be free to continue to pour shit into our waterways with impunity, all the while pocketing taxpayer subsidies. This is his “ambition”.

What a country we live in.

When dirty politics meets dirty money, the public interest is the real loser, and nowhere is this clearer than in extending the licence to pollute, aka the nitrates derogation.

Fair fecks to RTÉ - and to Ireland - for having the cajones not to go along meekly with Israel’s endless genocide, unlike so many of our yellow-bellied European neighbours.
