Delighted to announce that my first book, THE LIE OF THE LAND, is due for publication on September 4th next via @penguinrandomhouse.bsky.social.

It's a frank assessment of Ireland and the #Climate emergency, with a roadmap towards a more food and energy-secure future.
Founded in 1948, @antaisce.bsky.social is Ireland’s oldest environmental charity, now says in all that time, it has never faced a threat to its ability to fulfill its legal functions regarding planning on a par with current government proposals.

Pod of this week’s Last Word on the environment with Matt Cooper now available.

I ripped into humbug & hypocrisy of Irish opposition to #Mercosur trade deal. We also discussed Ireland’s dire performance on emissions cuts, which will cost the taxpayer dearly.

We’ll be discussing Ireland’s rejection of #Mercosur deal, plus our missing #climate targets & Dublin Airport passenger cap lifted.

It's extremely unlikely that Patrick O'Donovan is this clueless. Far more likely is that he, along with government colleagues, are prepared to look the other way no matter how depraved are the atrocities the US tech bros inflict on society.

Best idea I’ve heard this week. We’re paying a heavy price for media illiteracy and disinformation; it’s never too young to start teaching people how to recognise and defend themselves against it.

Used to LOVE Twitter. Having c.45,000 followers gave me a modest but useful media mini platform.

Last January, I took the painful decision to quit, given its takeover by a raging fascist.

It’s now automating tools to make swastika bikinis & AI kiddie porn. 🤦🏻‍♂️

Am due on Shannonside FM shorty to discuss why Ireland is set to badly miss its 2030 #climate targets
January 7, 2026 at 9:48 AM
Gosh, it looks like Ireland is in for some “stark” weather, just perfect, apparently, for lounging around in the park, catching some rays.

Come on, media, you could at least make an effort at trying to communicate the disaster that is #climate change.

“But they’re too expensive, they’ll never catch on, they’re just a green gimmick” etc etc.

Nope.

Hell of a way to report that a lawless wannabe dictator has just illegally kidnapped the head of a sovereign state.

Legacy media scrambling to justify criminal behaviour is utter cowardice.

In 8 years as an EV driver I have never, ever encountered a single instance of this “I switched back to diesel” yet here it is, being flagged as a “Story of the Year” for 2025.

Gives some idea of the mountain to be climbed in terms of overturning persistent myths & misconceptions.
