Chevra kadisha rosha, cat lover. Good Hungarian paprika is delicious in almost any savory dish. She/her.

This is a thread about why I’m in a chevra kadisha, or more specifically, why I do taharah – the act of ritually preparing a dead person for burial. Sometimes people act as if it means I’m a particularly good or giving person, but I don’t see it that way. 1/6

Australia recorded ZERO cases of cervical cancer in women under 25 for the first time since they started tracking the cancer in the 80s.

This is the power of vaccines.

The HPV vaccine is extremely effective at preventing cancer.

Viruses can be oncogenic. Get your vaccines and protect yourself!
newsGP - Australia set for world-first cervical cancer elimination
Vaccination programs have played a key role, and GPs remain ‘instrumental’ in boosting screening rates to reach the 2035 target.

Just a friendly reminder as we go into the holidays:

Folks don't have to explain to you why they don't drink.

If you offer them a drink and they decline, don't ask them why. It's not your business.

Just offer them something without alcohol to drink instead. And move on.

Your yearly reminder that “holiday” celebrations that only include Christian traditions are not, in fact, inclusive even if you don’t use the word Christmas, so tbh I’d rather you just say it’s Christmas.
Until a few years ago, ugly holiday sweaters didn’t exist. They’re ugly Christmas sweaters, with some generic Jewish iconography to be “inclusive.” But the truth is, when I have to buy one to wear to a work party, I feel like I’m in another culture’s drag.

The facts are complicated, but here’s a summary of what appears to have happened based on the filings and today’s hearing:
NEWS: During a hearing in federal court in VA, prosecutors confirmed that the operative indictment in the case against James Comey was never shown to or voted on by the entire grand jury before it was presented in open court.

Defense counsel argued that’s a complete bar to further prosecution
November 19, 2025 at 6:30 PM
That's pretty much a guarantee that at least one such memo exists.
MORE: Under questioning by the judge, prosecutor Tyler Lemons said that he’s under orders from the Deputy Attorney Generals’s office not to disclose whether there is a declination memo recommending against the prosecution of Comey

“I think it’s absolutely a genocide,” the founder of a think tank in Sudan said. “The people who survived the first bout of genocide in Darfur twentysomething years ago tell me that, based on their experiences on the ground, this is far, far worse.” ttps://https://newyorkermag.visitlink.me/pwYTZC

Gary Larson created the term Thagomizer in 1982.
In 1993, paleontologist Ken Carpenter was the first to use the term in a scientific context.
It is now widely accepted and used to describe the spikes on a stegosaur's tail.

This is absolutely guaranteed to increase the amount of harassment received by female-presenting employees. Too many guys will take this as a come-on. It’s been tried before and it’s a disaster in the making.
"Store employees are now required to smile if they are within 10 feet of a shopper.

They also must make eye contact with and wave to or greet the customer.

If they’re within four feet, the employee should ask how the customer’s day is going or if they need help."

🙄 Won't stop the boycott, y'all.
Target is now requiring its employees to smile more
As the holiday season fast approaches, Target is urging its employees to add a little more “jolly” to their work routine.

Trump has been touting the cost of the Walmart Thanksgiving meal bundle as proof that the economy is doing well, noting it's cheaper than last year's bundle.

But @allansmith.bsky.social compared the two, and there's a catch: There's also less food in it.
