NCJW is a 132 year old Jewish feminist civil rights organization working for the full rights of women, children, and families in the United States and Israel.
As we begin a new year, Mary Shelley, author of Frankenstein and the mother of science fiction, reminds us that beginnings live in the present moment.

May we embrace today and all of 2026 with the courage and purpose to build stronger communities.

Shabbat Shalom!

Wishing you and your loved ones a happy and healthy new year, from all of us at NCJW!

This 2026, we look forward to advancing the rights of women, children, and families across the United States and Israel. We hope you will join us in this sacred work. 💙

In Little Women, a Christmas morning act of tzedakah and the growth of the March sisters remind us of the strength in living fully — with heart, mind, and purpose.

As we welcome Shabbat, may we carry that sense of wholeness with us.

Shabbat Shalom!

Depriving veterans of access to reproductive health care is nothing more than cruel and a blatant assault on their freedoms.

Our veterans deserve access to the full spectrum of health care — including abortion care and counseling.
Department of Veterans Affairs quietly implements abortion ban
A VA spokesperson confirmed to MS NOW that the ban was in place following a Department of Justice memo issued last week.

Cynthia Ozick reminds us that Hanukkah’s light lives everywhere — in tradition, celebration, & the sparks that bring people together. Read her full essay at bit.ly/3N96EoM.

After a difficult week, as we light both Hanukkah and Shabbat candles, may we honor every spark of light.

Shabbat Shalom ✨

We are honored to support Diamonds For Doulas through our Jewish Fund for Abortion Access!

In Tuscaloosa, access to maternity care is limited and deeply unequal with only 30 OBGYNs for its population of 100,000. And in a city that is 44% Black, none of those providers are Black.

Trans people's lives and futures are not up for debate. They are a beloved part of the Jewish community, and all communities. NCJW will always advocate for their ability to access the health care they need, when they need it.

"I don’t want to celebrate resiliency; I want to see reform."

We couldn't agree more. We need sensible gun safety safety laws now. Read Rabbi Sharon Brous's powerful op-ed at The New York Times.

Reproductive freedom is a Jewish value — and what better way to celebrate it than Repro Shabbat?

Here's how it works: On February 13-14, when we read Parshat Mishpatim, Jewish communities across the country will celebrate Shabbat while centering reproductive freedom.

May this Hanukkah bring moments of comfort, connection, and strength. Our shared commitment to a brighter future endures.

No one should have to fear for their life while practicing their Judaism.

We are incredibly upset and deeply concerned by the news of the deadly attack on Bondi Beach in Sydney, Australia, directly targeting the Jewish community.

Heartbroken by the news of a shooting at Brown University. Our faith in a better future demands our action. Thoughts and prayers are not enough when students can't even sit for exams without fearing for their lives.

We witnessed pure courage this week as María Corina Machado emerged from months in hiding to receive her Nobel Peace Prize. She often lifts up the power of women and mothers in the fight for peace and freedom — and this Shabbat, we’re inspired by her bravery.

Shabbat Shalom!

Such a powerful story about what it takes to be a caregiver in these times. Thank you, Senator, for sharing your family's story.
A few weeks ago, my dad was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. I won’t lie—it's been incredibly challenging for me and my family.

Now, I’m embarking on a journey to answer the questions so many of us face when it comes to providing care for our loved ones.

I hope you’ll join me.

If Congress lets the Affordable Care Act premium tax credits expire at the end of year, millions of families will lose access to care.

We cannot let this happen. 📣 Tell Congress now: put people over politics and protect health care access for ALL families. ncjw.org/healthcare

No one should ever suffer alone.

As part of the #16Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, one of the most important things we can do is show up for survivors. If you or someone you know needs support, there are resources available to help. Share this post — you never know who will need it.

Crisis Pregnancy Centers are back before the Supreme Court — and the stakes are high.

This time, the question is about whether CPCs can hide behind the First Amendment to avoid accountability.

Here's what you need to know about First Choice Women’s Resource Centers v. Platkin.

NEWS: A federal judge "again recognized the 'defund' law for what it is: unconstitutional and dangerous."

We are heartbroken to share that Phyllis Snyder z”l, NCJW past president, has passed away. Phyllis was a passionate advocate for abortion rights and a lifelong champion for justice, equity, and dignity — as well as a friend and mentor to countless women leaders.
