So here we go. The big #GivingTuesday pitch. God help me, I'm gonna get this done so I can finally focus on actual substantive work.

There are so many deserving causes out there that deserve your help. If you only have a little to give, give it to one of them.
Wow

DO NOT call up the homeless shelter on thanksgiving or Xmas to see if you can pass a few plates and show your kids the “reason for the season”

The homeless shelter is not a petting zoo of human tragedy! The homeless shelter is not a drive thru nativity scene for you to enjoy!

Gone Crazy Girl spec script just dropped
Someone really wants to be bankrupt when that defamation lawsuit is all over.

It gets lost in the shuffle, but the Speaker of the House is someone who, by all rights, should’ve had his career ended a decade ago by a Shreveport TV news investigative team.
Fond memories of that time Mike Johnson was president of a local law school that never opened its doors, in part because it was attached to a Baptist college that was losing its accreditation, and in part because it was always a scam from the start
Mike Johnson -- who is, yes, theoretically a lawyer -- has not had a chance to look at the American Constitution because he's been very busy lately, folks, he just can't see everything, gosh, how is he supposed to know if it's wrong that the president called for the execution of congress members?

I generally don't believe in ghosts but at my old workplace which was a call center where 2 people have died I saw the toilet paper sway on its own with no AC so I still believe that was some kind of spiritual presence
do you believe in ghosts or are you like me, a person who finds themself saying all the time “I absolutely don’t believe in ghosts, but this place has ghosts.”

If this judge had not been there this kid would've been in custody for a month, if he wasn't immediately deported.

I just inexplicably got the dee-dee-dee-dee-dee, dee-dee-dee-dee-dee keyboard part from Love Hina stuck in my head and help I can't get it out

You know what fascinates me most about Trump? The one quirk that tells me more about his personality than anything else?

Remember that DM to Pam Bondi that led to Halligan being installed that he posted publicly instead?

He thought he was sending a DM, but he still wrote "Adam 'Shifty' Schiff."

Oh drat that wasn't a dm was it
Dear U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro, I would like to report a public death threat made on social media against numerous members of Congress by a DC resident. Given your zero tolerance policy for such conduct, I trust that you will promptly investigate and prosecute this perpetrator.

A breakdown of the process used by part-time poasters:

1% having really clever idea for a poast but not being able to poast
3% remembering idea multiple times when not able to poast
5% remembering idea when able to poast and poasting
91% searching old poasts to make sure you didn't already poast it

Just spent about 30 minutes methodically moving all the filing deadlines in a case in accordance with the new DC District Court standing order extending everything due to the shutdown, then realized that the case isn't in DC.

I literally just sat here in silence thinking about how to express my thoughts on this so long that my phone turned off the dictation because it thought I was done. And I still don't really have any clear way of expressing the whole WTFness of it all
For folks catching up, the reason the second indictment weirdly wasn't in the grand jury transcript, which confused the magistrate judge, is THEY NEVER PRESENTED IT TO THE GRAND JURY.
NEWS: During a hearing in federal court in VA, prosecutors confirmed that the operative indictment in the case against James Comey was never shown to or voted on by the entire grand jury before it was presented in open court.

Defense counsel argued that’s a complete bar to further prosecution

BREAKING: Prosecutors in the Comey case just told the judge that they’re under orders from the Deputy Attorney Generals’s office not to disclose whether career prosecutors wrote a memo recommending *against* indicting Comey prior to Halligan going to the grand jury.

Q: How about Cleveland, Cincinnati, and the Easter Bunny?

WITNESS: Yeah, them, too.

Q: And Toledo?

WITNESS: I still ain't made up my mind yet about Toledo.

I distinctly remember a conversation over a decade ago where @michaelkofman.bsky.social first made this point to me, saying basically look at photos of WW1 and WW2 soldiers, they're all runts compared to what people think of as soldiers today.
"Premodern" nothing, you go back to read WW2 Medal of Honor reports and then look at the guy who did it and he was like 5'6" and 120 pounds soaking wet

medicine and nutrition have come a huge way over the past 100 years, even if we're now sort of over-reaping the benefits w the obesity crisis
