You've probably been following the story about fraud in MN. I wrote about the people who provide services who are being driven into bankruptcy, thanks to the Walz' administration decision to hire Optum AI to screen all payments. It's a disaster.
Perry: Trusted providers are being unfairly swept up in Minnesota’s fraud crackdown
As the state's new anti-fraud screening system went into effect, the Holland Center expected to receive $212,000 in payments. It instead received $22,000, David M. Perry writes. If nothing changes soo...

Any artists on here with calendars available? I'm looking for the new year and I'd rather support independent artists than buy from Amazon or the big publishers.

Hit me with recommendations or links!

It has been a rough holiday season and this GFM still hasn't filled up enough for making this trip possible! There are only 6 days left before I leave. Even if you can't contribute, a share to your networks will really really help. 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽

One thing I would like in 2026 is to have more copy editing work coming in! I’m a developmental editor at heart but people don’t freelance that out as much and I’m good at CE as well. If you’re involved in freelance CE hiring for any presses besides S&S (who I already do work for) pls get in touch!

the very first question every journalist should be asking after grok generates CSAM is "how did it know how to do that?"

and the nature of the tech is such that there can only be one answer: it was trained on CSAM.

why is that not a COLOSSAL story in the age of broad daylight Epstein coverups?
there are endless headlines about "grok apologizes" or "grok says it will be fixed" after it generated CSAM using pictures of minors and zero headlines about "grok being shut down" or "musk and xAI in big legal trouble" and I think something fundamental has broken here

Last couple of months have been tough, high depression & anxiety & ASHD. I accept that external factors played a big role, but I'm still the one who has to function. I tried the Fabulous app but was literally overwhelmed. Back to the drawing board.

“Then they shouldn’t have voted for this!”

Bitch, Asheville is a blue college town and the county has gone blue for decades. I am so sick of this “if I pretend disasters only happen to red areas, it means I’m safe because I’m properly on the left!” No. You’re not safe. That’s why we save everybody.

Decided that instead of toting sheets around when we do our caretaking, we should use sleeping bag liners. Smaller, individual, suitable for the truck beds and for the ranch beds. Still washable, and good for extending life of our sleeping bags. New year!

I'm still pissed that the original US military, the Coast Guard, was dumped into Homeland Security. Despite their expertise in intervention in nautical drug-smuggling, and their demonstrated ability to Not Murder People.

always read @natashalennard.bsky.social: "It’s high time that Democratic leaders treat the assault on trans youth for what it is: the attempted eradication of an entire category of persons, against which committed political opposition should be the baseline."
Trump Spent 2025 Making Trans Lives Unlivable. It’s Time for Democrats to Defend Them.
Elected Democrats haven’t done nearly enough to oppose attacks on gender-affirming care. They risk being on the wrong side of history.

Serious thing for folks to consider is, particularly for marginalized people, Grudges Are Self-Defense. What you may be interpreting as pettiness is probably closer aligned to "You have demonstrated you're not to be trusted." And knowing who REALLY has your back is more important that ever.
I feel in my bones that the wave has started to crash back in and Certain People/Companies who thought they were safe to abandon everyone they’d been pretending to care about will suddenly realize that those people have money/power and I, for one, will be holding a grudge until the end of time 💜

I have offered to paint it on ceiling of Daughter's dining room.
