Nova Scotia. I think I see some familiar faces here...still preoccupied with Springsteen, life, the universe and everything. Feminism. Health both public and reproductive. Covid ain't over.

apropos Bruce Springsteen's tour announcement, may I once again share my list of his 10 best original protest songs (before you ask me why Edwin Starr's "War" isn't here): www.salon.com/2026/02/10/b...
Bruce Springsteen’s protest songs still hit where it hurts
Springsteen has repeatedly turned moments of violence and injustice into songs that demand moral reckoning.

Evergreen wish
It's very sweet to protect each other.

A well-fitted mask can keep others safe from many airborne illnesses including Covid, flu, RSV, strep, measles, and tuberculosis.

If you have never taken this workshop you are missing out, it was so good.
Rates of harassment are up, hate crimes are up, general incivility seems to be the norm these days. There's a general sense that "Things suck but we're powerless to do anything about it."

Not true, babes! Let me teach you community care!

Lorne Greene was many things through his life. He was an inventor, an acting teacher, a celebrated broadcaster, a singer and, of course, a great actor.
He may have been most famous as Ben Cartwright on Bonanza, but he was so much more than that.
This is his story.

Introduce yourself with the name your parents almost gave you....
Before I was born, my mother wanted to call me Michael Christopher, my father objected saying it sounded too Catholic. Mum said, "Fine, she is going to be a girl"
Introduce yourself with the name your parents almost gave you:
Olivia
My mom wanted to name me Olivia and my Nana said it wasn’t a “real name” and if she chose it, Nana would kidnap me lol so they went with Nana’s choice of Amanda.
Introduce yourself with the name your parents almost gave you:
Rory
My dad loved it for a boy. Mom hated it. 😆 I think it would be cool for any gender.

What he says
Just because it's going to be important over the coming days.. I stand with the trans community, especially trans youth. Some of the strongest, most vibrant and amazing people I know are trans and we cannot allow the news cycle to ever take that away.

Guns kill people, gender identity doesn't.

Love to see this.
Liberal MP Bruce Fanjoy from the Ottawa-area riding or Carleton is breaking ranks with the Carney government on its Return to Office policy for public servants:

“There is little to no evidence that a one-size-fits-all RTO policy will improve productivity or service to Canadians”

Without naming your job, tell me something you say over and over again at work ...

"Thanks for your time"
Without naming you job, tell me something you say over and over again at work.

“Are there any other possible fathers for this child?”

So I am watching the #Olympic2026 opening ceremonies on replay, thanks to CBC Gem... and the Ukrainian athlete entrance made me cry. So also did Venuzeula, (and in CBC's coverage we got to hear the boos for that American VP) i also cried at the new Tim Hortons ad

Oooh this is an excellent thread.
I'm catching up on newsletters and in the one I'm reading now, the author says that they recently experienced a difficulty in finding stamina for dealing with trouble, and that this was the first time that had happened. I feel like I've been hearing that a lot lately.

Here is my latest. Sylvain Charlebois, Canada's beloved commentator on the food industry, thinks that not giving us access to raw milk is communism.

Continuing to take pictures of myself in airports wearing my N95 from @canadastrong.bsky.social i particularly like how it complements my vest.
I have seen one mask so far at Billy Bishop and that gentleman was a security staff member who soundedd like he was coughing up a lung.

Totally this.
Tomorrow there will be a bunch of people upset because school is canceled yet again. At some point we’ll direct that anger at Provinces House. Don’t want school cancellations? Insist that we invest in prov infrastructure that makes it safe to travel specifically tailored to our own climate.

Canada is in mourning for a beloved icon.

Catherine O'Hara was such an incredible performer, and over my lifetime - from SCTV to Schitt's Creek, to Christopher Guest films, to... everything (!) - she's brought so much good into my life. We were so lucky to have her.

Absolutely heartbroken. 😭
