For @msnownews.bsky.social, I wrote an article about how ICE Watch is grounded in sociological theories of violence prevention.

The reality is that most men will only commit public violence in extremely specific scenarios and ICE Watch disrupts the conditions necessary for escalation.
Opinion | I'm a Minneapolis sociologist who studies violence. Here's how ICE observers are helping.
Research into how violence occurs shows that disapproval from the people around you can help reduce it.

What Trump and ICE Are Doing in Minneapolis Is Obvious. They Don’t Seem to Grasp What’s Happening Instead.
ICE declared war on Minneapolis. The city had its own ideas.

Nope! Not even a single mention of ICE. Not even from reporters.

It’s ALL about warning demonstrators to behave. All of it, again. Like this is all happening in a fucking vacuum.

If it wasn’t so infuriating it would be comical.

The call is for a one day stoppage of all work, school, and consumption on Jan 23rd. Minneapolisunions.org is a regional group of unions connected with the AFL-CIO. Calls for it started a few days ago from a handful of local unions and this marks a major expansion. It has a lot of potential to grow.

Anyone on my mentions who ever positively mentions newsom is an auto block
The majority of libs who are fretting about the idea of elections being canceled are doing so because that’s actually much, much easier to reconcile with than what is far more likely, which is Democrats are simply going to nominate this guy and lose.

Penn has refused to comply with an EEOC subpoena seeking a list of Jewish students and faculty at Penn. The EEOC is now suing the university over its refusal to cooperate.
