i think they should make a law that anything using AI is labeled as such. i just don't trust anything on YouTube etc anymore. im just not interested in a machine putting words or images together. life's too short for all that

Unrelated tangent from the OP but this is the literal thesis of South Park and it’s exactly why that show is a steaming pile of shit disguised by genuinely good and snappy, albeit cruel and needlessly mean, comedic writing.

My computer is a stupid hog entirely subservient to me. It cannot create art. To suggest it can is profane
I mostly agree. The caveat: there are people who manipulate AI inputs with the diligence, effort, and creative strategy that artists wield brushes. It can be a creative medium like any other.
But I don't really think that's what the techbros are really aiming for. They want quick cheap "art."

I get why techbros and their ilk like gen-AI: artists and writers to them are just an obstacle to be bypassed. But I'll never get an author/artist/musician who uses it. "I want to be a writer." No you don't. You fetishize ideas but hate the work. You don't respect the craft or its practitioners.

One bright side to being forced to live in an AI slop tornado is now I see my artistic mistakes as incredibly endearing. The human machine of my body made that weird line.
