The sad and inevitable truth is in another 10 years, when it is all said and done and it is irrefutable Israel committed a genocide in Palestine, there will be many a handwringing think piece from those who defend Israel's actions now, claiming 'we didn't know'. They know. Remember that they knew.

Do you want to add alt text to images, but keep forgetting?

You can change your BlueSky settings to *require* alt text before you can post.

It’s in your accessibility settings. Very easy.

Not a single person has been held accountable for the decades of child abuse committed at Ashley Youth Detention Centre in Tas. Years after the Liberal govt promised to close it: nothing.
Thanks, Senator Lambie, because federal attention might be the only thing that brings accountability. #politas

Just to be clear. Every time anyone blames anything on the lockdown, they are deluded or dishonest. Blaming the lockdown is denying the seriousness of the virus. The COVID virus, not lockdowns, is to blame for economic, social & health upheavals since 2020 & for ongoing damage

I cannot believe they’re going defcon 1 this.

The confected outrage over this is simply ridiculous, and is just fuelling complete misinformation over this.

When in government their own transport plan literally recommended exactly this - organise the fleet into different lines.

Here’s another way to look at it. When an MP gets voted in it’s a contract for the duration of the parliament. At the end of that term they’re submitting a fresh tender to the commissioning entity, the public, to get another contract. If they don’t get the tender, bad luck, they get nothing.

Quiet down, Year 8

BlueSky Pro Tip (that I only just learned)

Likes do NOT boost posts. There's no vanity algorithm.

Like stuff, of course. But...

The ONLY way more people see more content is if you Share/Repost it

If you didn't know that either, then you know what to with this post 🫶🐒

‘Eeyored’ as a verb! Tremendous!
saw someone on twitter complaining about their bra being uncomfortable and some sadsack eeyored into her replies with “well at least you have boobs”
sometimes you post something sweet and joyous and someone responds to you complaining that you shouldn't say that bc it's upsetting to people who are miserable and it's like. no offense but i feel like i might be able to guess why you're so miserable

This year's winner, Weliton Menário Costa, explores kangaroo behavior & promotes diversity. It is, by far, the best I've ever seen. youtu.be/RoSYO3fApEc?...

My friend who’s in charge of environmental services at a large sewage treatment plant in the San Francisco Bay Area thinks we should use dry toilets instead of liberating the most dangerous product we produce (and doing so with clean drinking water no less).
I have spent a lot of time in the bathroom lately, covering everything from the sink to the bidet, and today how we got our toilets. It's one of the greatest misallocation of resources in history, with vast quantities of expensively cleaned and pumped water being contaminated with human waste.
We should rethink the toilet from first principles
It was a mistake from the day it came into our homes.

Here's something that's actually underdiscussed:

Ogilvy, a fossil fuel company PR and advertising firm, has two co-authors on this paper, including one company executive.

The same Ogilvy that helped BP popularise the term 'carbon footprint' to shunt responsibility away from themselves

Thanks, American Dialect Society, for choosing "enshittification" as the 2023 Word of the Year. Cory Doctorow's apt term describes how online platforms decay by showing users less and less of what they came for, while keeping them trapped and unable to exit for better alternatives.

As Covid rises again, killing about 1,500 Americans each week, researchers are trying to understand why so few high-risk patients are taking Paxlovid, a medicine that is stunningly effective in preventing severe illness and death from the disease.
Paxlovid Cuts Covid Death Risk. But Those Who Need It Are Not Taking It.
With Covid deaths rising to about 1,500 per week, researchers question why Paxlovid use has remained low among high-risk patients.
