Forever pissed that this worm got elected and Bring Chicago Home failed to pass by tiny margins in the same 2024 primary.
Paris Schutz reports a statement from Cook County SA Eileen O'Neill Burke re: calls for her to investigate ICE and CBP acts of violence.

She concludes with: "The CCSAO does not conduct independent investigations..."

The lawsuit we reported on yesterday asks for a special prosecutor to do so.

'measles outbreak at the child prison' seems entirely avoidable, it's really the kind of thing that only happens if you do several unthinkably evil things on purpose all at once

I’m starting to see signs of seasons changing

For example “ICE is not permitted here” signs in store windows are beginning to turn into “Abolish ICE” signs.

As a former border reporter who crossed multiple times a week in order to do my job I can tell you that from the bottom of my heart, because of my work and what I saw, I believe that borders should not exist

For the record, I'm fine with open borders. Especially if this is the alternative. Fuck this.

If you went back to 2010, and played me Rebecca Black’s “Friday” and anything by Grimes, and told me that in 15 years one would be a critically acclaimed queer icon, and the other would be a global laughingstock with a walk-on role in the rise of American fascism, well, I’d never have guessed right.

If table stakes isn't DHS releasing every last person swept up in these raids, what are you even doing?
Now I am willing to give the White House and Republicans two weeks to work with Democrats to reform ICE and the campaign of terror we’ve witnessed in Chicago, Minneapolis, and across the country. After two weeks, I make no promises. (2/2)

From watching what's going on at Northwestern right now...they're the same picture
A debate I would tune into: is it worse for academic freedom to be eroded by politicians in public or billionaires in private?

I genuinely can't decide.

On the one hand, crushing power of the state (also effectively run by billionaires)

OTOH, *zero* footholds for open or democratic process

It is a shame and a scandal that Cook County States Attorney Eileen O'Neill Burke is not on this list.

Call her office at 312-603-1880 to ask why, and why she is not fighting to prosecute the murderers of Silverio Villegas Gonzalez.

With the multiple fatalities and serious injuries at Addison and Inner Lake Shore drive recently, I double down with my concern about the cyclist safety on the Grace greenway eastern terminus at Waveland and Inner Lake Shore drive.

It needs to be a concrete protected intersection.

If you're wondering why Chicago isn't on this list, well, that's a good question for Eileen O'Neill Burke

There's apparently body cam footage of Alex's murder. Do people know this?

This lets you know that a demand for body cams is USELESS and in fact just a way to give more money to the killers.
