I wonder how much the price of gasoline alone influences the idea of affordability in the USA? I buy small amounts of gas every week (I don't drive a lot but it's part of my ritual) and gas has dropped from $3.90/gal to $3.10 per gallon this year. But prices on everything else has gone way up.
