Thank you, that's very true, people are just really busy today about the news (Organ Ghost by James Gameboy available now on Bandcamp) so they might not have seen it. It's a very funny post, they'll see it later I'm sure.

*pfft* this could be about any billionaires
Well, it's a little clearer now why billionaires are so invested in technology that produces better written emails.

Any time a book of Sarah's drops it's both right on time, and addresses, in the words of MCA, "a little something that's long overdue."
Today is the publication day for WITHOUT CONSENT, a book I am so proud to share with the world, and that the New York Times Book Review says "is years — decades — overdue."

one thing I love about modern UI design is the lack of error messages. Ideally, the user should have no idea why their app is malfunctioning or what they can do to fix it. this is how a phone asserts dominance.

God, neither do I. And outsourcing that ability to a bunch of energy-guzzling machines whose companies are about to careen off a financial cliff? No thank you
What people do not do, they often lose the ability to do. Which is sometimes fine! In my own life, I don’t have any great need to know how to do some of the math I once learned. But I don’t want to forget how to write.

Starting November 15, this game and all its DLCs will no longer be available for purchase on any platform!!

Please don's miss it, it's a great BSG game - and a nice tactical.

Good literary translation requires understanding (language, culture, genre--on both sides of the translation) and an ability to write well. "AI" can't do that. There are no shortcuts. Treat your work and foreign language readers with the respect they deserve. You won't fool anyone with this.

For the @theglobeandmail.com, I wrote about the persistent myths and misconceptions surrounding spousal rape, and a novel legal theory that might reframe the way lawyers and judges (and society) counters them.
Opinion: Spousal rape remains all too misunderstood

Bad AI supplanting human expertise is an issue that transcends any one field, but man—not many people on earth whose knowledge and dedication deserves respect like LIBRARIANS.
The long-running ideological war on libraries, education, and government workers is not separate from AI boosterism. It is the same ideological war on human knowledge and expertise. In some cases AI is being used to directly supercharge this effort:

Timely reminder.
Remember to live your life such that people don't talk about the abject evils you did when you die.
So many people were detained extrajudicially, were tortured, or died because of Dick Cheney. You can't get to the danger we're in now without everything he did. The weapons he helped forge are ones we need to take away from U.S. presidents forever.

Surprisingly common journey I’ve observed:

Inexperienced but wildly creative designer makes magic

Then, as they absorb more game design rudiments, begin to disrespect the very innocent elements of their art that made it magic

Designer makes a “fixed” second edition that falls flat

it still hasn't happened - indeed, studies found the robots made MORE work for human carers.

"The lights had probably gone out."

"So had the stairs."
This is false. UK Toilet Access law requires that no matter what level you are on, the toilet is on another. You must go up or down stairs to find it. The stairs will be unnecessarily narrow and followed by a labyrinthine series of tunnels. That's the law.
