#ME is a violent, turbulent condition. Words like brain fog, tiredness, aching, mood disturbance, interrupted sleep patterns, do not begin to describe the turmoil of #MECFS bodies. It’s like being attacked by a malevolent being, often for decades and without help or understanding.

What you’re witnessing is a populist assault on the BBC.

This is not an institutional scandal in any meaningful sense of the word. It is an attack on public service broadcasting.

The fact that they belittle @zackpolanski.bsky.social and the Green Party surge just shows, I’m afraid, how out of touch mainstream politicians and media are with the longing for radical change and honesty that so many of us of all ages feel.

So few researchers or medics of any kind have started from the lived experience of an individual #ME patient and seen the whole picture that is being presented. It may be unique and a very different and difficult way of working but it may be the only way forward.

And now so many #LongCovid patients, children included, meet the criteria for #ME from which the world moved on last century as we were handed over to the psychiatrists whose job was to stigmatise us. It worked!
“When you have a disability people can’t see, you don’t get the same level of empathy. It feels like the world has moved on.”

It’s shameful how society is gaslighting people who are experiencing chronic illness and ignoring an ongoing public health crisis.
