Just so everyone knows, one of the few trials of a communist official after the overthrow in Eastern Europe had a sentence of four years for using a water cannon and tear gas on students. Different standards, I guess.

Do not drink raw (unpasteurised) milk.
A newborn baby has died in New Mexico from a Listeria infection that state health officials say was likely contracted from raw (unpasteurized) milk that the baby’s mother drank during pregnancy.

In news which surprises no-one who actually understands migration, cutting it undermines the whole economy. Even reductions which remain above the mythical political idea of "zero net" have fundamental impacts. Not least, because migrants actually create jobs.

Please can we tag this figure at the end of every single article about migration figures, small boats, diatribes about cultural erasure and the rest of the daily onslaught telling us we have to have less people coming here?

Oh no what a shame
Lord Toby Young, founder of The Free Speech Union, previously claimed he had “no idea” how he ended up in convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein’s private contact list.

But the latest file release raises questions about Young’s links to Epstein and Maxwell.

£4bn very well spent. Do it!
How much will it cost the UK to reach an 87% cut in greenhouse gas emissions by 2040?

In a new letter, @thecccuk.bsky.social confirms about £4bn a year (£26bn a year of costs minus £22bn a year of savings).

Once again a warning to the UK. This is what Farage wants to repeat in the UK (the stage is already well & truly set, with Serco et al running internet camps for refugees). We need to be ready to resist

That's because it's still not quite socially acceptable to outright say "I support nazi race science and eugenics and the hierarchy of races" yet, but if everyone keeps pretending they don't understand what a dog whistle is they'll get there soon enough, don't worry.
A reminder that Reform's candidate for Gorton and Denton, Matt Goodwin, has still not explained what he meant by this claim that developments in genetic science will make younger generations more right wing as they understand the "inherent differences" between different groups

I try not to engage too much with reviews; both positive & negative are hazardous to mental health & it’s important not to attach self-worth, or your own assessment of your work. That said, it can be so gratifying when someone really gets what you’ve tried to do, and I think that’s the case here
