My wife told me she heard at a training she attended that ICE has argued "ALL ARE WELCOME HERE" signs are invitations to enter private spaces and if that don't beat all I don't know what does.

Literally same. Wtf do you mean I can take a train on time in the snow and feel safe riding my bike drunk in the snow but I can‘t do that in nice weather 99% of the time ?? In a bigger city??
maybe it's because I'm from Chicago, but I think we need to start acting like LA is the second largest city in the country and not a disparate collection of suburbs
As someone else said in Nolan's original thread, LA IS A CITY. If you don't want to live somewhere with city densities, you don't get transit! The anti-urbanism in this country is truly in its terminal stage.
