True to form, power protects power. Casey Wasserman must resign, and Los Angeles deserves a mayor who isn't afraid to call for it.
"Ultimately, any decision on the LA28 leadership must be made by the LA28 Board. As you know, they are a separate and independent nonprofit organization."

Statement from LA Mayor Karen Bass (which just landed in my inbox) who is *not* calling for LA28's Casey Wasserman to step down

Another scandal for @mayor.lacity.gov. Hoping @raeforla.bsky.social is the real deal bc we have an opportunity for change.
Sources tell the LA Times that Mayor Karen Bass directed changes to the Palisades fire after-action report that softened criticism of the city’s response — contradicting her public statements.

One Bass confidant told a source that 'the mayor didn’t tell the truth when she said she had nothing to do with changing the report.'

Los Angeles deserves a mayor who believes in housing as a human right.
"A lot of the net worth people have is tied to their housing, that creates this design where people want the housing prices to go up. But houses are for living in, they're not for speculation"

I did watch it, live, and my takeaway was that you care more about optics than Angelenos.

street art is expression, if only you were willing to hear it. encampments aren't eyesores, they're visuals of the failures of our city to care for its residents. the people will not be silent or invisible.

*killed

the word you're looking for, Mayor Bass, is "killed."

ICE agents are killing US citizens. hope this helps
Here in Los Angeles, Keith Porter, a 43-year-old father of two, was shot to death by an off-duty ICE officer. In Minneapolis, Renee Nicole Good, a 37-year-old poet, mother, and wife, was also shot to death during federal enforcement operations.

What’s sort of sad about the billionaires is at one point they at least had ambition. They had to see something that didn’t exist and imagine it being there, and now they all dress like Ronnie from Jersey Shore and go to Imagine Dragons concerts

And this is only reason #832 why we should cancel the Olympics: we’re going to be paying for them for a very, very, long time.
(LA taxpayers will be on the hook for the first $270 million in cost overruns if the LA 2028 Olympics goes over budget.

CA taxpayers will then be on the hook for the next $270 million.

After that, LA taxpayers will again be on the hook for any remaining cost overruns.)
