There's nothing the Trump regime will not do to retain power. Unless we come to terms with that and act accordingly-you & me, reps, judges & cops & military officials who give a shit-we're done. They will not stop. They'll have to be stopped.

Republican Rep. Doug LaMalfa has died.

Marjorie Taylor Greene resigned from Congress last night.

A special election in Texas on Jan. 31 will put in another Democrat in office.

Mike Johnson's House majority is almost non-existent. Next month, he can only lose one vote.

New York’s private healthcare CEOs pocket millions in salaries while our nurses on the frontlines are overworked and underpaid.

Our communities and nurses deserve better.

This is why I’m pushing for a state escrow account that holds federal funds before sending them on to Washington. If Trump wants to steal our tax dollars that were legally appropriated by Congress, then we should just be paying ourselves.
“Minnesota, New York, California, Illinois and Colorado will be cut off from around $7 billion in funding for the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families program, which provides cash assistance to households with children, according to two people familiar with the matter.”

Monstrously cruel.

Starting tomorrow, the Trump administration is set to send notices to 1,000 student loan borrowers (first round) noticing them of an intent to garnish their wages for student loan debt.

This is cruel and unnecessary.

If you receive a notice, send it to us and we'll try to help.

With the retirement of Marjorie Taylor Greene, and the passing of LaMalfa, it looks like the GOP no longer holds a working majority until his seat is filled. It’s at 217. They need 218 for a majority.

5 years ago, we had just won two "impossible" senate runoffs in Georgia. I was talking to a reporter about Indivisible's plans for major democracy reform. He had to drop because "something's apparently happening at the Capitol."

Two things then happened that brought us to where we are today:

What followed wasn't just a Trump-led assault on our democracy. It was also a failure of the Dem Party to respond. Garland's incompetence killed accountability. Biden sidelined democracy reform & Senate Dems failed to pass it.

5 years later, Trump's goons are trashing our democracy from the inside.

In other news, Republicans are doing more eugenics.

Just reading our new Project 2025 CDC has just eliminated recommendations for RSV, Meningococcal disease, Hepatitis A and B for kids.

These people literally want non-white and people to die—especially babies and the elderly.

$1.2 TRILLION taken from rural hospitals.
$50 BILLION given back.
That’s not help. That’s a rip-off.
Rural communities deserve real care, not crumbs.

This is what Lauren Boebert voted for.

My name is Trisha Calvarese and I’m running for Congress to retire her for good.
Colorado rural hospitals to receive $200M annually, but Medicaid cuts total more than $1B
Rural hospitals will benefit from $200 million in federal funding each year for the next five years, but Colorado is losing at least $1 billion in Medicaid funding.

A new funding package aimed at averting the Jan 30th deadline was just released by appropriators.

The House is expected to vote on at least one funding bill later this week—as early as this week according to current reports.

when you think grabbing people by the pussy is ok, of course you identify violence with love
Five years ago tomorrow, thousands of the president's supporters stormed the Capitol.

Trump has since dubbed Jan. 6 a "day of love."

Scroll through @propublica.org's massive trove of parler videos -- organized by time and location -- from that day and judge for yourself:

We are dealing with the world's most shameless & terrible people.

I'm perfectly fine using these terms to describe the Trump Administration and MAGA movement.

I don't think they are owed any civility or grace based on their actions and behavior.

How do you shame people without shame or decency?

My position on impeachment is the same as it was six months ago: Impeachment is first about driving public attention to Trump’s crimes and corruption.

Democrats should introduce impeachment articles and force votes to boost their parallel media effort.

Performative public investigations matter.
Why push for impeachment?

Because politics is an exercise in moving public opinion as much as counting votes in the senate.

The Jan 6 Hearings were not a criminal proceeding against Trump that would end in jail, but they focused public attention.

Impeachment isn’t just an option, it’s a necessity. I know firsthand the lengths Trump is willing to go in order to silence dissent — but is it working?
