Yesterday Mayor Bass said that the greatest test of LA is if people can actually afford to live here.

Ironic that it’s her own policies (watering down ED1, opposing SB-79, preserving single family zoning at all costs) that keep LA unaffordable.

Remarkable self unawareness.
February 3, 2026 at 5:12 PM
Just listened to Mayor Bass say that “public safety is more than police…” and started to talk about other safety issues, such as streetlights being out.

She didn’t say one word about the hundreds of pedestrians killed by traffic violence last year, or the thousands injured.

Insane that we choose to continue living like this.

Wide roads
Slip lanes
Absolute driver priority in design

We don’t have to live like this.

I will never understand why @ladotofficial.bsky.social does 3 years of planning and outreach for 1 year of construction.

THIS is why things take so long and cost so much.

Pretty sad state of affairs in LA:

One city department lies to another city department to get environmental clearance on a project that’s awful for the environment and will make traffic worse.
LAX lied to BoE to get environmental approval on their $2B plan to make traffic worse (laxgridlock.com).

TOMORROW at Public Works Committee they are trying to get an additional approval.

Tell the committee to reject LAWA’s lies!

How to get a curb ramp in a broke city.

1. Start with a curb with no ramp
2. Have it rain over many years
3. Have cars crash into the curb

You’ll eventually have a curb ramp thanks to Mother Nature.

Congestion pricing = policy miracle
Would work great around DTLA too
The latest numbers are in: Congestion pricing cut 27M car trips in 2025.
Commutes got faster
Streets got safer
And business went up

I wrote something with @futureis about how LA has basically stopped maintaining its streets.

At this rate, the city is going to be one big pothole in a few years, and we’re going to spend more on settling lawsuits than fixing streets.

Contributor: You're not imagining it. L.A. has surrendered to the potholes
To avoid a legal obligation to make sidewalks accessible, the city stopped repaving streets in July and doesn't plan to resume.
