every republican president destroys the economy
2025 is now, officially, the worst year for job creation outside of recession since 2003.

Agree with the sentiment, that it is gut-wrenching.

I don’t think it is correct to attribute the anti-science movement to transphobia/misogyny (though not unrelated).

They believe universities and science were Democratic Party supporters and wanted to attack them.
I know this is like 30 outrage cycles ago but it's genuinely gutwrenching how Trump decided to dismantle the greatest research apparatus in all of human history because they thought the NIH was spending all its money on enumerating the genders instead of curing cancer

Breaking news: Employers added 50,000 jobs in December, notching a solid gain for the economy but ending the worst year for the labor market since the pandemic-era recession.
Employers added 50,000 jobs in December, a solid end to a weak 2025
Last year, 2025, marked the fewest jobs gained for workers since 2020 and the highest unemployment rate since 2021.

Important context to "more/better training" arguments: the murder of Renée Good was a product of that training by someone who has trained others.

(I've seen same in civil rights cases; by moving where he did, he was intentionally generating a pretext to shoot her without genuine risk to himself.)
NEW: Jonathan Ross is former National Guard and Border Patrol and has been part of ICE's SWAT equivalent, a team leader overseeing FBI, ATF, and IRS agents, and a firearms instructor, according to testimony obtained by WIRED. This is from @hudsongiles.bsky.social and me:
ICE Agent Who Reportedly Shot Renee Good Was a Firearms Trainer, Per Testimony
Jonathan Ross told a federal court in December about his professional background, including “hundreds” of encounters with drivers during enforcement actions, according to testimony obtained by WIRED.

My dude one-hands the whole shooting because he’s got his phone recording in his left hand the whole time.

Never even moves to drop his phone to put a second hand on his pistol BECAUSE HE IS A CONTENT FARMER, NOT A TRAINED LEO.
We've analysed this video of the shooting of Renee Nicole Good yesterday in Minneapolis frame-by-frame to highlight the positioning of the gun and phone in the ICE agent's hands.

Dangerous, reckless behavior. He should have been fired after this incident.
The case involved Ross punching out a man's window and tasing him while he attempted to drive away; the man shook him off his car, giving Ross injuries that required 33 stitches. The man called 911 to report that he'd been assaulted by ICE and was later convicted of assault on a federal officer.

I'm going to be very blunt here: headlines like this and articles like this are a significant part of our media problem because they make people believe things that aren't true

This is something pundits and lawmakers on the left could do! Say that standing up for law and order and freedom means protecting your neighbors and keeping tabs on a violent paramilitary force that is acting with impunity.

Remember when Charlie Kirk was praised for doing political discourse the "right" way?

I wonder if we see similar pieces praising Renee Good for exercising her constitutional rights in the face of a fascist government. I think we know the answer.
Some people lost their minds when we criticized shooting victim Charlie Kirk for his well documented racism and misogyny.

Some people are losing their minds when we don’t buy into the fiction that shooting victim Renee Good was a domestic terrorist.

And they are the same people.

Gov. Polis tells CBS that Tina Peters’ sentence was “harsh” and that he’s considering requests to grant her clemency.

There were real concerns among other elected officials that Polis would release Peters. This gives credence to those fears:
