Oh yeah. I think Josh’s point was that no reforms will pass without nuking the filibuster, and the current SCOTUS will keep inventing reasons Dems aren’t allowed to govern, so have to start there.

Josh’s post is worth reading in its entirety. The points:

1) kill the filibuster
2) court reform
3) DC/PR statehood
4) clean up laws on presidential power
5) outlaw extreme gerrymandering

These strike me as a really good starting point of foundational necessities.

Hi.

I’ve been editor-in-chief of Teen Vogue for the last 4.5 years — a dream job, one I never thought a Brown girl from small town Louisiana might hold.

I am so incredibly proud of the work we’ve done and what we accomplished. Our journalism has won major awards. (cont’d)

We don’t have talented people in America? That’s bad news for Joe Biden

TRUMP: You have to bring in talent

INGRAHAM: Well, we have plenty of talented people in America

TRUMP: No you don't. No.

The fact that this, and every other Trump pardonee who has subsequently broken the law, has not ended Trump's political career, that it barely even registers on the national discourse, underlines just how far we are from a functioning democracy that values accountability.
A man pardoned by Donald Trump for his role in January 6th - he assaulted Capitol Police officers with bear spray & a metal whip - has avoided prison for child sex crimes because of the president’s sweeping pardon, despite pleading guilty to soliciting what he believed was a 15-year-old girl for sex

I was in a multiyear relationship with an addict (imho an addict is an addict is an addict). My childhood wired me to be attracted to one, probably. It took a long, long time for it to get bad enough to me leave/see the truth. It wasn't that I was dumb or weak; I didn't think I deserved better.
Kept waiting for at least one of these stories to end with, "And then I left him," but (of course), nope. The most bonkers through-line here is that none of these couples have kids (yet) and it sounds like every women had glaring red flags *before* getting married. 🫠

To think that this is an old republic, with republican traditions and civic virtues– and that it leads to this, make the blood boil in indignation.
Trying to think of a more vulgar person—or someone with less understanding of or appreciation for American history.

No one comes immediately to mind.

This simply happened and no one in the media speculated why the President would do this or what it means about his involvement
“The President sent his lawyer to negotiate a settlement with a convicted sex trafficker to provide cushy accommodation in exchange for her silence on his participation in said sex trafficking” is a cold description of the facts of an insane story that the media doesn’t find worthy of scrutiny

Why the fuck should I bother calling out the GOP? There is no way to reach them.

Its like shouting at the lion for eating people. Like im sorry thats what they fucking do

Weird how at some point the ACA subsidies went from meaningless technocrat babble that it was obviously incredibly stupid for Democrats to try protecting to being incredibly important for helping people avoid suffering.

And Democrats managed to get it wrong both times!! What were the odds?
