the thing that strikes me about this — again, besides it being false — is the venom and disrespect for the people who come here to work and build better lives. they aren’t “servants.”
JD Vance: "Democrats' idea was the way you get more prosperity is that you import more and more low wage servants."

anyone who talks about birthrate decline in the West without mentioning immigration as a solution is a white supremacist.
Every "population crisis" article in western media is just "WHERE ARE THE WHITE BABIES" in disguise and we absolutely do not have to give any credence to any of them

Deporting millions of undocumented immigrants who have built lives in America (a) is morally indefensible, and (b) will probably make the housing shortage *worse* because so much of the construction workforce is undocumented.
everyone keeps dancing around it but JD Vance keeps trotting out the “immigrants are taking our housing“ because it’s a nativist blood libel he’s engineering alongside eg “they eat our pets” but, more specifically, it is to legitimize the dispossession, en masse, of an entire sub-population.

This statement - from Senator Jim Banks - could have been taken verbatim from an article lamenting the censorious left.

Trump’s HHS put me on “non-disciplinary” admin leave today. This was retaliation for speaking up. Moves like this are designed to silence us. Let’s not let.

I have some fresh questions about how Wolff got almost 18 months of unrestricted access to both the Trump campaign and, later, the West Wing to write his book (that curiously doesn't mention this at all to my knowledge)

Don't get me wrong you shouldn't lie when you are reporting... but it's possible to perform the act of journalism without pretending you're a cipher who respawns every morning with a baby's brain and zero clue about how the world actually works.

Absolutely hilarious to me that Donald Trump’s going after everyone for “mortgage fraud.”

lmao nobody has committed more of that than him! every accusation continues to be a confession.
FOX: Fox can now confirm that Eric Swalwell has been criminally referred to the DOJ accused of mortgage fraud.

Damn it's times like these when I wish the Framers had included a legislature with co-equal powers. Power of the purse, responsibility for declaring war. Chambers that might demand to know what's going on and, if it was as stupid as it looks, stop it. Such a foolish oversight by Madison et al.

this whole paragraph is an exercise in the pose of knowingness, and illustration of how making being "more reasonable than the extremists" the whole core of your intellect leads inexorably to believing in nothing at all
This paragraph especially!

If I understand him right, he's saying "moral clarity it good" and the right has been utterly immoral so it might sound weird to criticize moral clarity. HOWEVER, because the left is bad [unspecified reasons], "moral clarity is an obstacle to insight." ???

The political reporting at the NYT has left a bad taste in readers' mouths for years where Trump is concerned and with good reason: it tastes like shit. There have been too many indefensible pieces about Hillary Clinton, about Biden, and about Trump himself that put a thumb on the scale.

I continue to disagree with this. The goal of mass detention is mass deportations. A private prison company leasing 100 beds to ICE gets paid the same if the beds are filled by 100 people for a year each or 1,000 people for a few days each. They don't earn more with long-term detention.
It's not about deporting them. It's about detaining them indefinitely and enriching Prisons for Profiteers and the grift the Convict in the Oval Office collects per detainee.
