To the surprise of literally nobody, it is once again privileged and powerful cis men engaging in prolonged and frequent sexual abuses against women, as well as other cis men helping them by hiding the complaints of sexual abuse from those abused women.
Not drag queens. Not trans women.

The only SOE sale I'm aware of that has actually flourished is Telecom, because mobile providers can build their own networks & use the phone/internet infrastructure built by the government.

Selling SOE's with no/limited competition will only make profits for new owners #nzpol

To expand on National's "Country as a Home" comparison, they are wanting to buy a second hand Corolla instead of something new because it costs less now but not considering the higher maintenance costs in the future.

A reminder that this anti-trans panic is 100% bullshit and exactly none of our country’s problems are related to someone expressing their gender identity and everyone who isn’t a hate-filled weirdo knows it.

🧵Once again, RNZ (and the Otago Daily Times, which used RNZ's story) name Tim Jago in a report on his latest court appearance on charges of indecent assault and NZME, Stuff and TVNZ don't. And yet ... www.rnz.co.nz/news/nationa...

Luxon thinks we need a "mature conversation" about selling state assets... But I don't think he really means that, because a mature conversation would look at the history of failure and the shortsighted focus on profit ahead of public interest.

He wants a conversation where we agree with him.

The question of asset sales seens to arise three or four years after tax cuts.

2010: tax cuts
2014: partial asset sale of powercos & AirNZ

2024: tax cuts
2026/27: asset sales? (If Nats win next year)

The reason is blindingly obvious: tax cuts means less tax revenue.Nats have to make up shortfall.

That the Free Speech Union's conference audience is applauding the suggestion of basically banning non-Christian religions should pretty much put an end to their being taken seriously by media as a voice for principled free speech advocacy.

But it won't
If you'd told me that a speaker at the Free Speech Union conference would call for banning non-Christian public expressions of faith to an applauding crowd, I would have said yes, obviously that is going to happen newsroom.co.nz/2025/11/10/t...

Treasury is saying "woe is us" again and suggesting asset sales. So here's a reminder from the OECD that our Govt actually has a net worth ($191bn per Treasury) which makes us an outlier globally.
