Self-reinvention is a way to stay young, as long as you can remember what you were.

I recall being an author, journalist, photographer, truffle grower, climate change writer, magazine editor and publisher, but who can be sure?

So the government refuses to lift a finger on cutting emissions and is rolling back climate action, now they're making sure that they don't have to lift a finger in helping Kiwis deal with the results of their inaction. May their houses all be on floodplains
Disgusting.

(iirc) the world added more solar capacity in 2025 than in the last decade combined. we're at or over the tipping point. solar will be used not because it's environmentally friendly but because it's cheap as fuck
Solar’s price drop is astonishing: panels are now 98% cheaper than when I first analyzed them in 2004.

Today, building a fence with solar can be cheaper than using wood.

Ardern and Shaw, willfully or no, were taken for a ride by National and Fed Farmers on climate change. Nats/Feds delayed climate action with false promise of seeking 'consensus'. As soon as they had the power they ditched He Waka Eke Noa and 'Zero Carbon Act'. Don't get fooled again.

The Luxon Government's surprise move to gut the Zero Carbon Act has upended six years of cross-partisan consensus on climate change.

They are unfit to govern in 2025.

Absolutely amazing: they've got so much solar in Australia that they need more people to use more of it, so the gov't has instructed energy retailers to offer *at least three hours of free power* during the middle of the day.

Meanwhile fossil-addled US struggles with an energy-price crisis ...
Energy retailers to be directed to offer free power three hours a day
Saying there is enough solar power for everyone in the daytime, Climate Change Minister Chris Bowen will direct retailers to provide three hours of free power every day to consumers.
