I am often frustrated by comfortable true blue democratic voters who don’t understand why so many millions of people have given up on the party.

LOOK AT IT.

"Oh gosh, wow, 8 rogue Dem senators, the exact number of votes Republicans needed to reopen the government, voted yes. I, Chuck Schumer have nothing to do with that" is such obvious BS.

My favorite thing about Pluribus is how much it feels like a book. It sets up this world and a relatively basic premise and then immediately starts exploring that premise and poking at the rules and constraints. I don't really see that outside of fantasy novels with magic systems.

This happened when Chuck Schumer caved on the CR. Like 20 Senate Dems wouldn’t answer if they had confidence in Schumer. Not one actually called for him to step down, and they won’t this time either. Not Bernie, not Warren. No one.
Mark Kelly notably declines to endorse Chuck Schumer as the leader of Senate Dems going forward

It's not."socially inconvenient" to disagree with cait or anyone else on here with clout. The problem is you're disagreeing with objective fact and then "ad homineming" the issue to blame the poster and not the plain and simple truth you're just very wrong about something.
this man thinks i have far, far more power than i do and it's becoming weird atp

A group has suggested, albeit without evidence— okay then shut up. Stop right there. What the fuck are you doing? This isn't how journalism works where you just "some people say" all day with no investigation or inquiry as to the veracity of the source. What the fuck?

Pretty much all affordability discourse could benefit from just posting this chart.

If you're in the better off America, all the luxury goods you want in excess are for the most part much cheaper. If you're in the poorer America, most of the shit you need to live/grow is more expensive.

The only way to argue against this is to imagine there are voters who will walk into a polling place one year from now with “the Democrats ended the shutdown last year and saved my Thanksgiving travel plans” at the forefront of their minds, which, I’m sorry, is not a real thing.
This is why you DON'T stop the shutdown. Clearly the voters know who's responsible for the shutdown and now it's gonna be even worse. Since the news isn't willing to be honest with Americans about what Trump was and is, this will have to do so they can get the message.

Been trying to put that into words all morning
Amazing moment in time right now where people who yelled at us for sticking to genocide as a red line are now also disgusted with Democrats and threatening not to vote for them. So your health insurance becoming more expensive was your red line?

Trad guys insist that they should be the bread winners while the women folk stay home and cook, clean, raise the kids, do basic admin work like schedule doctor visits and handle money and then the trad guy will insist all of that was voluntary and not actually work when things go bad.

My family has been without half our income for 40 days. It has been.. very hard.

We are willing to feel that pain so people can have health care next year, or to undo these illegal recissions.

We are not willing to have been put through this for NOTHING.

Bloomberg: "If that vote succeeds, the Senate will need the consent of all members to end the shutdown quickly. Any one senator can force days of delay and votes."

Any one senator. Will that be you, Sen. Warren?
I will not support a deal that does nothing to make health care more affordable.

We are in a health care emergency. A simple one-year extension of these tax credits would cost less than Donald Trump’s $40 billion bailout for Argentina.

A vote for this bill is a mistake.

Anyone else watching Pluribus? Interesting to see how the concept develops. They already sort of explored what a "bad" or indifferent person would do in that situation. Obviously the other shoe is bound to drop but it's interesting to see everything play out.

Shutting down the government is a big deal. People have been hurt in big ways as a result of the decision. To have that suffering be for nothing—to re-open the government without actually having protected people’s health insurance and economic well-being—is unconscionable.
