Twice failed Academic here for exactly this reason. Add a bunch of all-or-nothing thinking, a pound of perfectionism & a whole lot of obsessive rumination, baby you got a stew going.
Being neurodivergent and highly sensitive is disabling in academia in many ways, but I don't see people often talk about the way you can be hit with sudden descriptions of sexual violence, death, child abuse etc in scholarship & while some people just glaze over it, for others it haunts us for days

Let these honest words reverberate in Alberta.
@mcbride.house.gov is right. It’s hard enough being a kid — and politicians don’t need to make it harder.

Thank you, Congresswoman, for speaking out against the cruel Republican attacks on health care for trans youth.

Please give at least the $2.75 minimum they request if you can.

People often ask: what can ordinary people do to stop populists like Trump and Smith from running roughshod over democratic norms?

Populists rely on the widespread perception that their actions are supported by "the majority" and "common people."

Anything that punctures that myth helps. +

“Look, you have be complicit in death if you wanna grow the economy.”

Maybe the perfect encapsulation of the immorality of capital.

This sucks.
I mean, the Americans were selling the Nazis stuff until ‘42 but not the point. My point, anyway, was twofold: you can’t have a defence industry and only sell to nice people; and you can’t grow the economy with unicorn farts and pixie dust. Governing in the real world is about least bad choices.

This is the sort of thing that in any normal province would sink a government. The Sky Palace pales in comparison.

It's such overt corruption, but they're doing everything they can to change the rules so it's not illegal.

This video looks more like a jobs program for white nationalists. Poverty is sky rocketing & the Poor's are getting desperate, quick we better buy more boots for their necks.
Canadians deserve to be safe in your communities.

That’s why we’re hiring 1,000 more RCMP personnel and strengthening the Criminal Code — to help keep violent and repeat offenders off your streets.

As I've been saying since January, Carney's framing of the Trump administration as a bad trading partner instead of a fascist regime would lead to greater entanglement with fascism as we work to restore relations.
Elbows up: A leaked Liberal caucus briefing note shows the Mark Carney government fears that regulating arms exports to the USA might upset the Americans.

This is especially concerning because Edmonton police have likely already been harvesting identities from social media, linking people to criticism of police.

This means “known critics” could be first targets in any police action.
