World-traveling geek in my 50s. Far too much of my luggage is taken up by books and dice. Yes, I also own a Kindle, but sometimes a fella's gotta have books.

I still miss Marathon Bars.

I never understood the kids' newfangled pog thing.

I am regularly asked what specifically blue states and Congress should do to protect the midterm elections.

Here you go, I list and explain them one by one.

It’s not too late for states and Congress to stop Trump from subverting the midterms
With only nine months before the midterm elections, Trump is plotting to prevent Democrats from taking control of Congress.

I will admit that for a brief moment, I thought these were the next series of Forever Postage Stamps, and got so excited for a not-entirely-small subset of my friends list.

This is exactly why I gave up Reason in the late 2010s and then gave up on the Libertarian Party in 2020, in fact. Because the Reason-faction of the LP could no longer be taken seriously or as having any integrity.
When I worked for Reason magazine during Trump's rise to power in 2016, I was explicitly forbidden by the editor in chief from writing about Trump's racism, or the violence and racism at his rallies.

It was a "sideshow," I was told.
Weird. I tried to warn libertarians about Trump

I should not have laughed as hard as I did at this. And yet. And yet.
I may have a stroke.

Someone said protests don’t belong in church and it took every ounce of self-censure within me not to say “Deborah you are literally a Protestant.”

A PROTESTant.

I assume they think Luther was nailing Bed, Bath, & Beyond coupons to the door.

A lot of tech and finance people interact with are regularly flabbergasted just how unapologetically proud I am of studying theatre and art tbh.

They're so used to humanities majors minimizing their field that when someone doesn't, it throws a lot of em off.

Welp, taxes are now at least e-filed. Obviously, the odds on it all being processed before the government shuts down (since I do assume at this point it will) are slim to none, but at least it's in the queue.
