Just trying to get by, you know?
As many have said before me, I had a major improvement in my quality of life when I simply embraced who I am and what I like

The fact that the goblins have such a sophisticated musical culture they can like improv several choral pieces while hunting dwarves has some unsettling implications

I would die for the Tree for Boston. A beautiful tradition
Massachusetts Republicans are so cooked that they're trying to attack Michelle Wu for "wasting" taxpayer money by visiting Nova Scotia to pick up Boston’s annual Christmas tree.

Now who's waging a War on Christmas, huh?

"Dems cannot successfully cave because John Cornyn got trapped in a broom closet" would be easily the funniest way for tonight to end
Update: They can't find Cornyn.

Back in the 1950s, law schools apparently received inquiries (from potential applicants, I assume?) that sometimes included a lot of questions. Here, Dean Prosser of UC Berkeley imagines a reply.

“attending shabbat would violate my faith in jesus” is idea-boarding for a 30 rock episode
At a meeting yesterday, staff voiced deep concern about anti-Jewish sentiment at Heritage and on the right.

That was followed by a Heritage staffer complaining about attending a Shabbat dinner.

Good thread
A challenge for people discussing Jewish Tradition (TM) in politics is that for the better part of the last two millennia a major survival pressure for Jewish communities was: "do not piss off the Gentiles, when you do that or get uppity, they get murder-y."

I love that my job is fine with me writing things like "Intensive lectures on the development of the writing system and gradual abandonment of the Paleo-Hebrew alphabet in favor of the Imperial Aramaic alphabet begin in about a month" in my emails to my kindergarten students' parents.
