It’s ICE and CBP hiding their identities, not everyday Minnesotans outside with their whistles and their neighbors saying, “Fuck ICE!” with our whole chests!

Don’t forget the kids who weren’t lucky enough to have a cute photo go viral to get people outraged on their behalf. They ALL must be released.
Liam, 5, has been freed, but four other students from his school district remain detained in Texas. Two boys from his elementary school were taken Thurs

“This isn’t something we are prepared or trained for. We’ve dedicated our lives to protecting + educating children,” school superintendent told me
ICE detains two more students from Liam Ramos’s school, officials say
The brothers’ mother was taken by ICE and Minnesota educators were forced to bring the children to her

I understand that elected officials can’t do everything, change everything, or take action on everything, but I am always infuriated when elected officials talk like they’re bystanders rather than people with enormous power and influence. You’re Governor of the state. Tell us what you can/will do.
They’re taking kids from Minnesota and sending them to detention camps. They’re shooting American citizens in the street and locking investigators out of the crime scenes. The world is watching what happens next.
Hundreds of people spelled out the distress signal "SOS" on Bde Maka Ska in Minneapolis on Friday, Jan. 30.

People here are outside patrolling their neighborhoods in this, trying to keep their neighbors safe from lawless armed masked goons. Armed with whistles and vests, they are essentially fighting a war against their own government and its ethnic cleansing campaign.

American Indian Movement (AIM) patrol trucks have been spotted around NE and folks are flagging them as suspicious and giving them unwelcoming glances because they don’t know who they are. This is the AIM logo and flag, which you might see on their trucks. They are friends!

If America makes it through this, anyone who murmurs platitudes about "binding up the nation's wounds" must be drummed out of public life. They tried that after the first phase of the civil war, and it just led to where they are now. The cancer must be excised and destroyed. Nothing else will work.
Holy shit.

Renee Good was alive when the bystander physician asked to check her pulse. She was alive when ICE refused to let him help. She was alive when they told him “I don’t care.”

Former USAF here who went through basic CBRN and got doused in the stuff.

When washing off afterwards, shower in cold water first. Warm water will not only open your pores to release any clinging tear gas but also reactivate the stuff. Having a second round in your shower is unpleasant.

Adding my 2¢…if you’re going to a protest (or just leaving the house in general at this point) keep a change of clothes/shoes & a towel to put over the seat in your car. This help you transfer less after the fact and save you from getting it on the car’s upholstery or, worse, in the air vents.

And if you're sharing URLs delete everything after the ? to reduce individual tracking or links back to your profile (like FB or insta)

(This should just be good practice in general)
Security folklore of the morning is that no one should share URLs on Signal because it exposes IP addresses and people should use QR codes instead. Please don’t do this! QR codes are much less secure. If you’re concerned about link security, turn off link previews which you can do in Signal settings

In general my rule is to not type anything into a phone or computer that I couldn't live with the feds reading. You can't encrypt your way out of user error, malicious or accidental.
Signal’s encryption is good. That encryption does not prevent people who aren’t friendly from listening to you when you don’t know who you’re talking to. Use common sense and don’t say anything to 1000 strangers you wouldn’t want read out loud by a right wing rag or in a court of law

If you are looking for a way to send support and love to Minneapolis
We are in fact DESPERATE for winter coats, waterproof gloves, and good boots. We get so many wonderful donations but it is so cold and the numbers of unhoused unsheltered people are going up at the absolute worst time for it, and we run out of coats weekly.
The frigid Twin Cities temperatures will hurt the homeless; so do not gloat about the impact on ICE without also stepping up here:

Push them around
A deer dance, invitation to peace
War staring you in the face
Dressed in black
With a helmet, fierce
Trained and appropriate for the malcontents
For the disproportioned malcontents
A little boy smiled, it'll all be well
And say a little boy smiled, it'll all be well
