I posted this on #WorldWildlifeDay 2020, over on the rich man's toy. It's an annotated drone photo of my "wildlife area". I'm fortunate enough to be able to provide some refuge from the thin flailed hedges and agricultural monocultures that are now all too common. I planted all the trees and hedges.

Another day, another Telegraph anti-net-zero headline. No other anti wind/green/EV stories on the front page, so I'm guessing they're inside. The gist seems to be that migrating from one technology to another will (shockingly) reduce jobs in the former technology. No mention of any new energy jobs.🤔

This properly blows my mind!: batteries based on cellulose fibers. We don't need to burn stuff anymore and the horizon is filled with exciting and superior technologies. The quicker we free ourselves from fossil shackles, the better. 🌍🌞🔋🌱
We haven’t quite got compostable paper batteries yet, but they are on the way! cleantechnica.com/2026/01/02/o... - likely to arrive sooner than commercial fusion power!

I've seen a number of posts over the last year asking in what way Trump's actions would differ if he were a Russian asset. It has recently become increasingly hard to answer that question. I will say that, if he is, then whoever gives him instructions is very very clever.

Ran out of time to reassemble this cassette deck when #RepairCafe closed today, as had to disassemble more than expected to change three drive belts. Working on it whilst listening to BBC Radio 3 Unwind, at home in the kitchen, with no time pressure, was surprisingly relaxing! #MindfulMending

Everyone should smash their Ring door cams and this poster will hopefully help spread the word of why.
jack asked if i would sketch up a poster to tell people in nearby neighborhoods about the partnership between flock and ring, and this is what i came up with. it can be printed on an 8.5x11 sheet of paper.

Sure 12 million gallons of oil spills sounds bad but what’s the alternative?

Offshore wind turbines that have never been proven to have any connection to whale deaths or any other negative impact at all?
Trump’s proposal to escalate offshore drilling could lead to 4,232 oil spills, dumping 12.1 million gallons of oil into ocean waters.

That could harm countless species — from Kemp’s ridley sea turtles in the Gulf of Mexico to Cook Inlet belugas off Alaska.

Leave seed heads on the plants in your gardens & this is why...... Beautiful....
Now is the winter of our seed-content.
Disappointing to see another grey day this morning.
I was just about to open the door when I noticed there was a large no. of Goldfinches.
They were feeding on a wide variety of seed types - Chickweed (Stellaria media), Sycamore, Winter Savoury, to name a few.

If the only tool in your toolbox is a hammer then every problem looks like a nail.

Not that Greenland is a problem to start with. It's more like a shiny toy a toddler throws a tantrum over: "Me want! Me want!"
Senile Satan said 10% tariffs would go into effect on Feb. 1 and apply to all goods sent to the US from Denmark, Norway, Sweden, France, Germany, the UK, the Netherlands, and Finland. The tariffs would increase to 25% on June 1 and remain in place until they surrender Greenland.

3% annual "economic growth" means doubling consumption every 25 years (4% = <20 years). Twice as much land, materials, energy use, etc. You cannot have infinite growth on a finite planet. We need sustainable degrowth, with space for nature and a healthier lifestyle.
Uncontrolled and inconsiderate growth is destroying our environment & our health. Few countries are enlightened enough to acknowledge this and actually take action to stop it.
Is Britain destined to become an overdeveloped nation with no food security, devoid of wildlife and full of sickly humans?🤬
